If you’re aiming for a mountain, I’m your walking shoes…

So many of us grow up with stories of love at first sight: Fairy-tales of magic moments and passing glances where two souls knew they were destined to be one. If only the world worked so smoothly; if only love were that simple! And yet… would love be worth it, if it were that easy?

A song of patience and affection, Andy Frasco & The U.N.’s tender new single “Can’t Force Love” echoes with both the weight, and the wait, of love.

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “Can’t Force Love,” the latest single off Andy Frasco & The U.N.’s forthcoming third album, Change of Pace (out February 22, 2019). A soulful indulgence of TLC, “Can’t Force Love” finds a narrator maturely accepting the slow growth of emotions – expressing his feelings for someone, and recognizing that she doesn’t need to feel the same way for him right away. He’ll let time take its course, but he’s also there for her, should she ever need him.

“‘Can’t Force Love’ is about patience,” Andy Frasco explains. “It seems when we’re lonely, or desperate, we try to ignore the warning signs when we’re looking for companionship. “Can’t Force Love” tries to explain that it’s ok to take your time when you’re falling in love.”

There’s a time and place to rush into things and live impulsively, but true love isn’t a spur-of-the-moment impulse: It’s a shared history – a storied connection of moments and memories that binds two bodies, hearts, and minds. Frasco’s vocals ache with the understanding that love is earned, not found; and he’s committed to proving his worth.

Sweet, sincere, and well-intentioned, “Can’t Force Love” is in many ways a song that’s been written and recorded a thousand times, but the track doesn’t feel old or worn: Rather, it’s as inviting as the powerful feelings at the song’s core. For a band from Los Angeles, Andy Frasco & The U.N. seem to have nailed a charming Southern soul sound, and those who like the work of Nathaniel Rateliff, Anderson East, as well as older Motown classic, will find comfort, familiarity, and cheer in Andy Frasco & The U.N.
