Life can be a dream, if you want it to: At least, that’s the premise of Ladysse’s new music video. Inspired by Stranger Things and her own journal, “Eleven” bubbles with melancholic hope as it contemplates love, friendship, and monsters under the bed.

I hope you know that
You are the magic in my veins
You took my darkness
Stealing my heart and brain

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering the music video for “Eleven,” the third single from independent pop artist Ladysse. The moniker for Detroit songstress Stephanie Lauren, Ladysse found her current sound working with producers Andrew Hansen and Aaron Ruiz in Nashville. Embracing Lauren’s sweet, high range, Ladysse fills out with cold, pulsing electronic drum kits and playful synthesizers that echo fellow “indie pop” acts like Handsome Ghost and CHVRCHES.

I believed in stranger things
And I think this love will make it out
Baby, yeah
We stop time
And align the stars
Cause when I’m with you
The whole world is ours

“‘Eleven’ is kind of a mix between dreams and the reality of what it’s like to get to live out your dream,” Ladysse explains. “It’s definitely a “love” song in its own way. For me, the monster in the video represents “love” and how it can be scary at first glance but it can end up being the best thing to happen to you!”

She continues: “I wrote this song when I was very unsure about the idea of love, but it’s become one of my favorites now that I’m on the other side looking back. I hope people listening can find themselves believing in the stranger things that make up the magic of feelings as well.”

I hope you find that
You’ll always feel my love
No space or time spent
It’s been you all along
I believed in stranger things
And I think this love will make it out
Baby, yeah
We stop time
And align the stars
Cause when I’m with you
The whole world is ours

You never know how a tv show might inspire new art. In the case of Netflix’s celebrated hit series, we’ve now been given a supernatural video capturing the emotional power of possibility, as well as the fear associated with it. “Eleven” shimmers with pulsing beats and bright melodies, ultimately embracing the love Ladysse feels by welcoming the monster under the bed into her life.

Feel my love
Feel my love
Oh baby
Feel my love
It goes for miles and miles
