This song is basically saying you’re safe with me, I’m not going anywhere. Once someone shows you can trust them the connection gets to another level.

Love goes deeper than the skin: It’s an intertwining of souls. We speak of love in terms of “deeply” and “madly” because when you’re so passionate for another, the boundaries between you cease to exist. You are together: One heart and one life. Jacob and Fanny’s passionate “Hold on to Me” evokes the magnetic connection of love with stirringly clear pop and intimate visuals.

I can see that your heart’s at war
Fire away, fought these flames before
You can show your thorns to me
Trust that I will never leave
Cause my love is running deep
So tonight don’t fight it

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering the music video for Jacob and Fanny’s new single “Hold on to Me,” independently released March 1. Co-written with Jenna Andrews, “Hold on to Me” is among the electro-acoustic pop duo’s first releases since parting ways with Epic Records and setting out on their own.

A catchy song of connection and knowing, “Hold on to Me” expresses desire to love and to be loved together and at once. It’s about being completely open with that special someone, and giving your full self to them. Directed by Jillian Martin, Jacob and Fanny’s music video features the duo (who are also a happily married couple) embracing physically, mentally, and emotionally.

It’s a seductive visual experience that pulls you into their intimate, multi-faceted relationship.

Hold on to me
Hold on to me
Hold on and I won’t judge you
Won’t you let me love you
And you’ll see how easy it could be
If you hold on to me

“‘Hold on to Me’ is about being vulnerable with the people you love,” Jacob and Fanny tell Atwood Magazine. “We used to fight a lot more than we do now, and we’d pack our bags and be super dramatic. Then we realized it was just fear of rejection. This song is basically saying you’re safe with me, I’m not going anywhere. Once someone shows you can trust them the connection gets to another level.”

They continue, “We wanted the video to be dreamy because the track has these hypnotic synth and guitar parts. There’s a lot of symbolism in the video like the cloud and the glass separating us. The wolf represents the fear. Wolves are often misunderstood as vicious animals, but it’s only because we don’t understand them. We shot the video with our best friends, and our friends happen to be badass filmmakers. Jillian Martin directed and Robert Dalsey was director of photography. Fanny did all the art direction and edited the video.”

“The wolf has another personal significance for us because we are big animal lovers. We heard about this wolf rescue called Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in Lucern Valley, CA that rescues wolves and we visited and spent time with the wolves. It was amazing. They’re such beautiful and impressive animals. The cause of protecting them and ensuring their survival really resonates with us, and we are donating proceeds from “Hold on to Me” to their foundation.”

“Hold on to Me” carries with it an important message of unconditional love. It’s a heightened state of understanding and trust – an ode to the marvelous beauty that enters our world when two people truly devote themselves to each other. Stream “Hold on to Me” exclusively on Atwood Magazine!
