The Austin-bred, Nashville-based singer/songwriter invites audiences to bask in three and a half minutes of stomp-and-holler bliss on “Santa Fe,” an aching, impassioned folk rock song yearning for emotional (and existential) release.
40 miles south of Santa Fe
Missing my brother a kind of way
Don’t know how I got here
Or how long I’ll stay
I wonder if dad’s ever gonna find
Ever gonna find some peace of mind
I wonder how I’ve never
seen my mother cry
In due time… in due time
Released September 20, 2024, “Sante Fe” is Bo Staloch’s third single of the year, his seventh overall song release, and his major label debut with Capitol Records. Following recent tracks like “Your Eyes Tell Stories” and “Hells on the Loose,” the spirited “Santa Fe” presents a charming and charged Staloch at the end of his rope and ready for a lifeline – and whether it’s kind that’s thrown to him, or more than likely one he makes for himself, he’s committed to making whatever change(s) he needs to feel at peace, inside and out.
He rises to a fever pitch in the song’s charismatic, catchy, and cathartic chorus:
I’m out of patience
sick and tired of fakin’
enough of saving face sayin grace
my, my, something’s gotta break
“Something’s gotta break“: It’s a simple line, and yet it holds so much raw, real weight.
“‘Santa Fe’ urges you to let go of fear. It’s a push to let go of anxiety about something that isn’t even there,” Bo Staloch tells Atwood Magazine.
“This song is the first to embody me as a person. Something that evokes a smile or a tap of the foot. It’s a message to everyone to lower your shoulders, to smile, to dance, to sing, to yell, to yell louder, hold each other’s hands, skip a few skips, skip a few stones, get stoned, just let go.”
I’m out of patience
sick and tired of fakin’
enough of saving face sayin grace
my, my, something gotta break
Wish that I could tell you why
Been losin’ sleep most every night
Catching strays from shadows on my mind
Watching my eyes turning red
Loosing my mind cause
Johnny lost his faith
Can’t recall everything I said
Got too drunk had a pack of cigarettes
Now I’m running on fumes and I think
Sweetly smoldering and soul-stirring all at once, “Santa Fe” is the perfect song to soundtrack this early fall – as the weather chills and leaves start to turn; as we reexamine our lives and wonder what else we can do to get to where we want to be.
Atwood Magazine recently caught up with Bo Staloch to chat about his brand new song.
“I feel like a lot of my songs are heavier in substance, and this song is lighter, happier, and provokes a smile,” he shares. “I see myself as a very happy person, so when I see my music creating happiness for other people, it fills me with all the way up with joy.”

A CONVERSATION WITH BO STALOCH
Atwood Magazine: Hey Bo, glad to connect! What originally inspired “Santa Fe”? Where did this track come from?
Bo Staloch: “Santa” Fe was inspired by a time in my life where i was just weighed down with stress and anxiety from all the changes and newness in my life. I was constantly waiting for something in my life to “break,” or for me to lose my control which only enhanced the anxiety. I was losing patience with myself, and ultimately I just decided to drop all of the weight, and let go.
Beyond that, what’s the story behind this song for you now, and how does this track continue to resonate today?
Bo Staloch: Now, this song is a reminder for me to keep my shoulders down and be present in the moment. It reminds me to not worry about things that haven’t even happened.
Now I’m running on fumes and I think
Watching my eyes turning red
Loosing my mind cause
Johnny lost his faith
Can’t recall everything I said
Got too drunk had a pack of cigarettes
Now I’m running on fumes and I think
i’m out of patience
sick and tired of fakin
enough of saving face sayin grace
my my, something’s gotta break
Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say it’s the first to embody you as a person? How for you does this capture Bo’s essence?
Bo Staloch: I feel like a lot of my songs are heavier in substance, and this song is lighter, happier, and provokes a smile. I see myself as a very happy person, so when I see my music creating happiness for other people, it fills me with all the way up with joy.
What are your favorite lines or moments from this track?
Bo Staloch: My favorite lines in that song comes in the second verse: “I wish that I could tell you why, been losing sleep most every night, catching strays from shadows on my mind.” This illustrates the way my brain was working at that time perfectly. It felt like it was just a shadow clouding my head and I was just catching punches left and right from my own head, which freaking hurt.
What do you hope listeners take away from “Santa Fe,” and what have you taken away from writing it and finally now releasing it?
Bo Staloch: I hope listeners allow themselves to feel what they need to feel, and then let it all go with a smile. I hope when listening, they can drop their shoulders, put their arm out the window, and give themselves a little break from all their stress and anxiety.
