Nothing’s gonna change the way that I see you, when you’re fighting in the dark I’m always beside you…

Love seeps through Bo Baskoro’s new single like sunlight breaking through storm clouds.

Nothing’s gonna change the way that I see you,” the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter declares in a passionate moment of heartfelt, unfiltered intimacy. “Even if somebody’s left the party doesn’t mean I’ll leave too.” It’s more than just reassurance: It’s a beautiful promise. Spirited and soul-stirring, “Give You Up” is an achingly tender indie pop anthem of showing up for the ones we love: Of being there for them through good times and bad, at their best and at their worst, no matter what.

Say farewell to your fair-weather friends and hello to lifelong, unbreakable bonds with a song that promises to uplift your heart and move your feet.

Give You Up – Bo Baskoro
I feel a chill the closer that I get
There’s still a part of you that’s hesitant
Now you’re questioning your
worth because of someone

That had gotten to you first and broke you up
But you don’t throw me off with your cold skin
Nothing’s gonna change the way that I see you
Even if somebody’s left the party
doesn’t mean I’ll leave too

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “Give You Up,” Bo Baskoro’s triumphant first song of the year – and bold, heartrending one at that. The Portland-raised, LA-based singer/songwriter, actor, model, and mental health advocate lays it all on the line in three minutes of unbridled connection, emotional fragility, and raw vulnerability.

“There are times after a heartbreak when you become afraid that who you are isn’t enough to be wanted by someone,” Baskoro tells Atwood Magazine. “You start putting your guard up around everyone to protect yourself from giving your all to someone new. ‘Give You Up’ is a song about finding the person who accepts every part of you and is willing to be there through the spectrum of all the feelings, fears, joys and thrills that are part of a relationship.”

He hits a cathartic high in the track’s breathtaking chorus, his words as inspiring as they are invigorating:

I won’t ever give you up
hearts will break and people change
I never expected perfect
I know it could hurt
But I’ll always stay
Don’t be scared to feel too much
’cause I want you in every way
There’s no line to cross that you could
stumble through
To push me away
I promise that’ll never change

For Baskoro, who recently moved to LA and has been slowly, steadily finding his place in the starry-eyed city, “Give You Up” is a reflection on his own experiences – both of loving others, and of being loved himself.

“‘Give You Up’ is about having someone that still stays with you even in your darker moments,” he explains. “My history has been peppered with experiences that have altered my perception of reality. So when I’ve been with someone that I’m starting to get close to, I have this sudden belief bore into my thoughts that this relationship is too good to be real or these people or person is going to finally see “the real me” and decide I’m too much or not enough and then leave me. So before that can happen, I start to sabotage the relationship or I just start lashing out from being triggered or something, I just start doing things out of my insecurity and out of character.”

“So ‘Give You Up’ is about those moments but having someone there that sees what you’re doing, why you’re doing it and says “I understand you, I get it but nothing’s gonna change the way that I see you. It’s about understanding and seeing through those weaknesses and still wanting them in every way.”

Jaded from the pieces that were left
Doesn’t mean you’ll never feel again
With your fist laid up against your jaw
You don’t recognize yourself no more
It doesn’t mean it’s how it’s supposed to end
‘Cause I won’t ever give you up
hearts will break and people change
I never expected perfect
I know it could hurt
But I’ll always stay
Don’t be scared to feel too much
’cause I want you in every way
There’s no line to cross that you could
stumble through
To push me away
I promise that’ll never change

Breathtakingly dramatic, boldly anthemic, and beautifully unapologetic, “Give You Up” wears its heart unconditionally on its sleeve.

Bo Baskoro’s entrance into 2024 finds him spilling the contents of his soul – and to great effect – but what lasts with us, long after the music’s over, is the resounding sense of love and devotion embedded deep into the core of this song. “Give You Up” is about love everlasting – that deeper kind of connection that doesn’t spring up overnight, but when you do find it, you hold on tight – because there’s nothing else like it in this world.
