When you are dealing with any kind of hardship in your life, having people that care about you and support you helps tremendously. You will always remember those that rally around you in your time of need. Donna Lewis’ new single “Corridors” is about just that. In 2021 the Welsh singer, famously known for her ’90s hit “I Love You, Always Forever” was unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer. That is something no one should have to go through, but for someone who already has a fear of needles, like herself, it is even worse. “Corridors” is a poignant ode to all the nurses who stood by her side. Her haunting, echoed tone melts atop effervescent synths to create an enchanting and emotive, wistful sound. Her lyrics describing her story will profoundly move you.
The room on the left
Is where I lay out my right arm for you
Uncross my legs
Gonna wrap me up
like you always do
The singer reveals, “I met Eileen. This song is really a love letter to this amazing, caring, nurse! She was so sweet and gentle and would wrap my arm up with such care before I set off down the corridors to my treatment room. I had many other amazing nurses on my journey, and this is really a shout out to all of them.”
In professions such as nursing, they can be the unseen heroes. Everyday they do life-changing work, but do not always get the recognition. Lewis’ piece is a stunning work of praise.
Eileen is my girl
Eileen is my girl
Eileen is my girl
Eileen is my girl
Lewis crafts music that is vulnerable and raw. Each release has a warm intimacy that instantly invites you in. This track talking of her breast cancer trials is no different. She is an ambassador for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, the nation’s largest and most impactful breast cancer movement.
“Corridors” is off of her upcoming album Rooms With A View. The record is a partnership between Lewis and renowned electronic artist and producer Holmes Ives. The whole offering documents the powerful account of her health journey.
The room on the right
Is where I hang up my clothes to dry
Under the light
Lay your hands on me like you always do
Which way
To a room with a view of the river
Which way
To a room with a view of the river
