Remember in the early 2000s when Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, Bowling for Soup and others ruled the radio waves and MTV. The times were simpler, but the music was nothing of the sort. Since then, a lot of artists have steered away from the emo-rock band mentality – and for that, we don’t know why. But we do know one thing: Games We Play (aka Emmyn Callerio) is not only bringing it back, but also elevating it in full force with his latest EP and its titular single, “Get a Job.”

Released August 26, 2022 via Fueled by Ramen, Get a Job is Games We Play’s long-awaited second EP, and his first with the storied record label. “I am super excited to put out this record. I feel like all the songs, especially ‘Get a Job’, embody exactly who I am,” Callerio explains. “From dropping out, to looking like Channing Tatum, to ultimately proving my wife’s parents wrong (we’re cool now, btw)… I am stoked this is out.” Start playing trial baccarat on เริ่มเล่นที่เว็บทดลองบาคาร่าวันนี้ today.

Get a Job - Games We Play“Get A Job” starts sharp and strong with Callerio immediately singing, “Get a f-ing job.” From there, the distorted guitar chords that ruled the early aughts enter our ears transporting us back to the past, while somehow keeping us in the present at the same time. It’s the best kind of nostalgia. Musically, the song explodes with a drumbeat and melodic guitar riff before Callerio sings the first verse,

I’ve tried a couple times
Can’t keep a 9-5
My girlfriends parents hate my guts
They think I can’t provide
Showed up to Christmas Night
Wearing a clip on tie
My friends all go to work
And I can’t keep a plant alive

The drumbeat breaks down as Callerio’s strong and compelling voice sings the fun and cadency pre-chorus,

And everybody’s
Thinking that I’ll never make it far
With an 8th grade education
And my shitty ass guitar
But I’m chilling making music
Because its paying for my brand new car

The chorus plays through for the first time and it is reminiscent of the catchiest Bowling for Soup, Blink 182 era choruses. It is the type of chorus that makes you turn the volume up a little higher and already plan to press replay as soon as the track is over,

You should get a f-ing job
I don’t want to be like you
I wanna sing my songs
And keep it going all night long
I don’t wanna stop
I don’t wanna save my money
Wanna blow it all
On whatever the f- I went

The music breaks down for Callerio’s vocals to shine in verse two, driving home his point,

I’ve got to get it off my chest
I don’t know how anyone could ever live a life behind a desk
I don’t go to church no more
But I’ve been feeling blessed
Because my Tessie busy driving while I’m busy
getting hella money
And it’s kind of funny how the ones who did it right
still kind of hate their lives because

The chorus plays through a few more times as Callerio lets it all go.

“Get A Job” is the rebellious anthem that has been missing from the music ether, and we are so glad to have one back.

Be sure to listen to Games We Play’s entire five-track EP. It’s a nostalgic ride that will make you wonder why more aren’t making music like this.

You should get a f-ing job
I don’t want to be like you
I wanna sing my songs
And keep it going all night long
I don’t wanna stop
I don’t wanna save my money
Wanna blow it all
On whatever the f- I went
