Fragile heart, I’ma tread with it carefully ’cause I love myself, that’s the remedy…

Kareen Lomax is living life on her own terms, and she’s not letting anyone get in her way – or get her down.

The alternative R&B artist has found her reason for being, and it comes from within. A spirited eruption of soul-soaked sunshine, “Remedy” is Lomax’s self-love anthem: A rare moment of true euphoria and empowerment channeled into an uplifting, inspiring song that reminds us to live life by our own rules, and no one else’s.

What I look like lettin’ get to me?
Waste of my time,
they see what they wanna see

Fragile heart, I’ma tread with it carefully
‘Cause I love myself,
that’s the remedy, ah-ah

Released February 21 via music is fun, “Remedy” is a radiant and hypnotic reverie. Kareen Lomax’s first single of the year arrives on the heels of last November’s smoldering single “SELF CARE,” which found the LA by-way-of Atlanta singer/songwriter basking in a similarly buoyant self-made space (“Before I leave this life, I wanna live it, I owe it to myself before I’m finished.”)

In a strange place, far from where I came from
Did I make a mistake movin’ for the rhythm?
The only thing I found in L.A.
was lost souls the ones who throw stones
living in glass homes

But it is what it is
Remind myself ’cause sometimes I forget that
Wakin’ up is an accomplishment
Even when I add up all the positive
sh*t bе feelin’ like the opposite

Produced by Daoud (SZA, Kehlani), “Remedy” is a heated, sweltering, all-consuming seduction. Lomax sings hot on the mic, her voice a infectious beacon of passion in a sea of intoxicating, ethereal drum beats and soothing synth pads:

What I look likе lettin’ get to me?
Waste of my time, they see what they wanna see
Fragile heart, I’ma tread with it carefully
‘Cause I love myself, that’s the remedy, ah-ah

“‘Remedy’ to me is my most intentional song yet,” Lomax tells Atwood Magazine. “It’s one big affirmation and declaration of self-love staring into the eyes of adversity, which to me is the remedy of life. I made it at my lowest with the hope that whenever I inevitably run into more times of trouble, I have a song to get lost in the rhythm.”

I made it at my lowest with the hope that whenever I inevitably run into more times of trouble I have a song to get lost in the rhythm.

Lomax hits her stride in the song’s second verse, leaning fully into herself and owning all those things that make her shine her brightest:

Everything they said I could do came through
Like I had hit the dance floor, I stayed with the moves
That’s why when I leave earth, I got nothin’ to prove
My whole life is the proof,
live the life that I choose if no one approves

No matter who ridicules only God makes the rules
Tell my worst critic I’m still droppin’ it,
a hater they not stoppin’ shit

That’s just my prerogative, I’m not gon’ do the politics

Catchy and cathartic, “Remedy” is a smile-inducing reminder to live life to the fullest and not let anyone get in our way. Find your new high and, courtesy of Kareen Lomax’s stunning self-love anthem.

What I look like lettin’ get to me?
Waste of my time, they see what they wanna see
Fragile heart, I’ma tread with it carefully
‘Cause I love myself, that’s the remedy, ah-ah
What I look like givin’ energy?
On a tightrope, walkin’ through the industry
Fragile heart I’ma love with it carefully
‘Cause I love myself that’s the remedy, ah-ah
