English singer/songwriter Nieve Ella is celebrating femininity and youth in “Ganni Top (She Gets What She Needs),” taken off her recently released third EP, Watch It Ache and Bleed.
While this track is a clear departure from that which was released in 2023’s sophomore EP Lifetime of Wanting, it offers an exciting sonic experience that proves that though she is young, Nieve Ella has a bright and boundless future ahead of her.

The tune screams hedonism in the most addictive way. Between the inclusion of screams and claps, compelling instrumentation, clever repetition, and what can only be described as impeccable imagery through the use of lyricism and vocal placement, “Ganni Top” is an expertly crafted track.
To touch on the imagery provided by the vocals and lyricism, Ella’s vocals are entrancing in their delivery throughout the song as they push a specific agenda of lauding sex from a female perspective, but the third verse is where the genius of the track is really shown. It is the addition of backing vocals by guitarist Finn Marlow on the line, “Please, please, please, please,” that sends it above and beyond. It gives volume to the idea of power dynamics and the importance of including female desire when it comes to discussions of sex in popular culture and media.
Putting it plainly, “Ganni Top” is a tantalizing song in its blatant expression of a youthful and unbridled female desire for pleasure in a way that’s not without a bit of cheek. Hitting hard and heavy from the start is a steady bass drum that carries the track through Nieve Ella’s lyrics, which serve as instructions for “what she needs.”
