In my body
and on my face and shit too
You’re just like coffee but you
Leave me groggy aha
On the naughty feeling
Like forever me and you
Gone, like a zombie cause ya
Acting like a cock blocker

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering the music video for “Tubes,” Lee Bowie’s 3rd single release of the year (independently released August 29, 2019). Since debuting in 2018, the as-of-yet masked and relatively unknown European pop duo have delivered a series of bangers that showcase not only the female vocalist’s expressive voice, but also a nuanced approach toward EDM-inspired percussion and synthpop-adjacent instrumentations that invoke and encapsulate specific feelings and states of being. Debut single “AttaGurl” is a perfectly-packaged “first look” offering of the band’s sound and style, which continues to develop further in “Tubes,” their fifth song overall.

“It’s a story about what happens when you allow yourself to become obsessed with something material,” the mystery duo tells Atwood Magazine. “Many addictions and/or obsessions start out as harmless fun or curiosity, but too often end in tragedy. We’re not anti anything, but we’re super-pro not diving head-first into things that will eventually kill you.
It’s also kind of a nod to some old kids tv-shows.”

Filmed by Stockholm-based artist Varpu Otonkoski, the “Tubes” music video finds the masked pair embracing indulgence – and thus highlighting the repercussions and extremes of such behavior. It’s one thing to be spoon-feeding chocolate to each another in the bath tub with a crisp glass of red wine; it’s another to pass out in the bathtub and need resuscitation. Through this music video, Lee Bowie highlight just how thin that line separating two activities – one “innocent” fun, the other “tragic” impulsivity – can truly be.

Time will tell where this duo go and if/when we discover more about their identities; for now, our focus lies on their invigorating aesthetic and their energetic sound! Stream “Tubes” exclusively on Atwood Magazine.
