When your heart’s all in and theirs isn’t, the only right thing to do is write about it. Nashville’s Edgehill let out the frustration of a back-and-forth, unreliable type of romance on “Love to Go.”

Basement jams were the beginning for Edgehill, but they surely aren’t the end.

The alternative trio – composed of Chris Kelly, Jake Zimmerman, and Aidan Cunningham – have been busy this past year supporting notable acts on tour like Dogpark, Ax and the Hatchetmen, Winyah, and KALEO. With a successful 2025 now behind them, Edgehill are ready for you to hear them live in 2026 – this time with new material.

The group’s debut album, Ode To The Greyhouse (February 13 via Severance Records / Big Loud Rock) was a product of near self-isolation for six months, and the vulnerability that came with. Being alone gave them time to really sit with their thoughts, hone their sound, and create an album straight from the heart.

Ode To The Greyhouse is an homage to a grey house in Nashville where the band discovered their artistic voice. The actual “Greyhouse” makes a feature in the live video for Edgehill’s latest single, “Love To Go.”

“‘Love to Go’ has been played at every single Edgehill show since the very beginning,” the band tell Atwood Magazine. “It is the second song we ever wrote together and hasn’t been touched since. It was recorded a handful of times before finally being released as the single directly preceding our debut album. It is funny how things work out like that.”

As a band, it’s normal to experience change, and Edgehill’s story is no different: They’ve grown and evolved together as a band. Besides each other, there seems to be one thing that’s followed them throughout their career. “Love To Go” isn’t just the group’s recent single; it’s a song that’s been special to them for as long as they’ve been together. It’s the anthem that reminds them of their roots, and the perfect song to release in honor of this new step in their career.

Upbeat songs carry an expectation of happiness, but every anthem comes from a root of awakening.

“Love To Go” isn’t a sad love song; though its lyrics may cut deep, it’s an anthem fueled in maturity and realization.

Drop a line and ask about me now,
where did you find the time?
You always had a million reasons
why you couldn’t come around
Made me apologize when you repressed me
You build me up to break me down
Then wonder why I’m not around

Edgehill paint a vivid picture of someone who doesn’t appreciate what they have until it’s gone. Woven throughout the lyrics is each little detail: Asking questions, making excuses, and a lack of effort. A combination of it all leads to a confusing cycle of cat-and-mouse, until something finally snaps.

I’m headed away
A woah oh oh
But you will never know
how much you made me miserable
Should’ve thrown me away before I got too cold
But you left me out to mold
So now this mess is yours to hold
Don’t take my love to go

The chorus feels like a turning point towards freedom, while demanding clarity. Edgehill lean on food-like metaphors to describe how touchy this situation felt. Just like relationships, food needs to be handled carefully in order for it to last. The reference to getting too cold could represent being iced out, while “mold” shows how the relationship went bad. The lyric, “Don’t take my love to go,” hints at someone wanting the quick, convenient version of affection without investing the proper time or effort. This line embodies all of the song’s themes in one simple phrase – making it the perfect title for an instantly memorable single.
