There are few things I love more than meeting one of my favorite musicians in person. One of those things is meeting them over a slice of pizza and a cold beer.

In recent months, this fantasy has become reality for fans of BENEE, Passion Pit, and most recently, Hannah Jadagu, thanks to The Wild Honey Pie, brainchild of Eric Weiner (Founder/CEO) and Lucy Dennings (Partner/Head of Operations). Founded in 2009, The Wild Honey Pie is a creative agency with music blog roots that fosters community around artists and their music.

The Wild Honey Pie’s intimate events have also served as the birthplace of music videos, live-album recordings, playful brand collaborations, and a stream of viral TikTok videos made by superfans gathered as pillars of support around their favorite artists.

While music is at the forefront of The Wild Honey Pie experiences, Weiner explains in an interview with Billboard: “We don’t call them concerts; we call them parties.” More than just an opportunity to see your favorite artist live, The Wild Honey Pie Pizza Parties invite superfans to hang out with the musicians they’ve dreamed of meeting, while artists are afforded the opportunity to interact with a small group of fans in a joyful, intimate “pizza” or “dinner-party” format. “Think of it like a sleepover – [or a pizza party] – with your favorite artist,” says Weiner. As he puts it, “the Wild Honey Pie makes music, food, and friendship the main act.”

If music is the centerpiece of The Wild Honey Pie, community is embroidered within its tablescape. At Hannah Jadagu’s Little Pizza Party, guests were invited to donate to Kiss the Ground, a nonprofit promoting soil regeneration and planetary health. Before the performance, guests could bid in The Wild Honey Pie’s auction, benefiting Kiss the Ground, for a chance to win two tickets, a signed record, and a 15-minute drinks session with Jadagu. Additional sponsors included Spindrift, Consequence Daily, Sub Pop, Vessel Life Science, and Partiful.

The event also celebrated the release of Paulie Gee and Mary Ann Giannonne’s newest cookbook, Pizza From The Heart; attendees had the opportunity to leave with a signed copy.

With Paulie Gee’s Restaurant as the backdrop and Spindrift as the Presenting Sponsor, about fifty Hannah Jadagu fans gathered on Thursday, October 23 to enjoy New York pizza and Kirin Ichiban (another sponsor) in anticipation of Jadagu’s sophomore album release.

A two-time Atwood Magazine Editor’s Pick and Artist-to-Watch, the multi-hyphenate singer/songwriter and guitarist took the stage (yellow guitar in hand) to perform two songs from her growing discography. The performance was defined by the earnestness, closeness, and genuineness that characterizes her sound. One of the songs was “Doing Now,” a guitar-driven single from her latest album, Describe.

“Now I’m feeling something,
 Only it’s a special thing
I tell you I’m really needing,
I know what we’re doing now
 Don’t need to be sure
When I’ve found a new release
Clearing up the fog that leads”
– “Doing Now,” Hannah Jadagu

While some have labelled Jadagu’s music as “bedroom pop,” her second album Describe embraces an even more intimate lyricism – making The Wild Honey Pie the perfect setting for its tender approach. Released on October 24, Describe strikes a balance between the upbeat sounds of Jadagu’s first album, Aperture, and the growth and introspection she has layered onto her perspective since then. As she describes in an interview with NME, Describe is an “ebb and flow between analogue and the modern.”

Fans left the performance with signed vinyls of Describe, complimentary bouquets, sponsor merch, full stomachs, and, above all, memories of Hannah Jadagu and the rare connection that comes from an intimate listening experience with your favorite artist seated right beside you.

The next installment of The Wild Honey Pie Pizza Party will be held at Paulie Gee’s Restaurant on December 10th, featuring a special stripped down set from St. Lucia.
