Australian pop star Kita Alexander turns late-night magic and live-show euphoria into pure pop exhilaration on “I Don’t Wanna Go Home,” a glitter-soaked anthem of connection, escapism, and those fleeting moments we never want to end.
“I Don’t Wanna Go Home” – Kita Alexander
Can you keep your eyes on me? The party’s slowing down, I don’t wanna go home yet, baby…
* * *
There’s a moment in every great night out when the lights dim, the bass thumps through your ribcage, and you feel that intoxicating mix of heat, sweat, sparkle, and suspended time.
Kita Alexander captures that feeling – the electric middle-of-the-dance-floor high – in her irresistible new single “I Don’t Wanna Go Home,” a smile-inducing, seductive reverie built for the exact second when you’re not ready for the night (or the connection) to end. It’s fun, flirty, and completely alive, pulsing with glittery synths, breathless urgency, and that chant-like hook that melts effortlessly into your skin: “I don’t wanna go home yet, baby…”

Look around
Got all these people moving in the crowd
The lights go down
Everything but the music’s fading out
Can you hear my voice over all the noise?
Our bodies touch
Take it off, mess it up, feel the rush
Can you keep your eyes on me?
The party’s slowing down
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby
Shake, shake, shake it for me
Before they shut it down
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby
Released in early July via Warner Music Australia, “I Don’t Wanna Go Home” is an invigorating burst of carefree, feel-good pop energy. You can feel the shimmer in lines like “Take it off, mess it up, feel the rush,” and see the scene unfold: Bodies moving, lights fading, that magnetic pull toward the one person you can’t stop watching. The track radiates the kind of carefree warmth that makes you close your eyes and sway a little harder – the sweetness of shared joy, the thrill of losing track of time, the freedom of surrendering to the moment. And yet beneath its glossy exterior, the song carries something deeper, something tender: A celebration of the communal spark between Alexander and her fans, and the emotional charge of connection she feels every time she steps onstage.
“I wrote this song entirely for all my fans,” she tells Atwood Magazine. “When we’re at a show together and it’s the last song in the set and none of us want it to end.”

I want people to let go of everything, and feel the rush of all the energy moving around them and in them at one of my shows.
* * *
That sentiment gleams through every lyric. While its origin story begins at the Chateau Marmont – Grammys week, a night out, and Alexander forcing herself to leave early so she could show up sharp for the next day’s session – its emotional center belongs to something more meaningful: The palpable rush she gets onstage, the way a sea of dancing bodies becomes her entire universe for ninety minutes at a time. “I have this exact feeling of not wanting to go home when I’m singing on stage,” she explains. “I wanted my fans to know how much it means to me to play for them.”
Look at you
You’re smiling wider
than the ocean blue
I got glitter eyes
Put my best dress on
for you tonight, oh-oh
Keep your eyes on me
The party’s slowing down
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby
Shake, shake, shake it for me
Before they shut it down
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby
It’s fitting, then, that the song feels like a living snapshot of her live energy: Vibrant, sweaty, joyfully uncontained – the soundtrack to a night you don’t want to end. Glitter eyes, ocean-wide smiles, bodies humming with adrenaline, that breathless loop of “keep your eyes on me” echoing long after the last chorus. “I Don’t Wanna Go Home” isn’t just a party anthem; it’s an invitation into Alexander’s world, where pop can be both escapist and intimate, both carefree and deeply connective.
It’s also a testament to trust – in instinct, in simplicity, in joy. “I was hesitant in releasing this song because it’s quite simple lyrically,” she admits, “but it always made me feel amazing when I listened back. So trusting myself… and then seeing that my trust was well placed because the response to the song since releasing it has been amazing.”
Sleep is for the weak
I want you every time I drink
You’re never ever gonna get me to leave
Can you keep your eyes on me?
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby

That self-assurance glows through the track just as vividly as its neon pulse.
With “I Don’t Wanna Go Home,” Kita Alexander delivers pure, unfiltered pop delight – a euphoric ode to the moments we wish we could stretch into forever. It’s flirty, fizzy, freeing, and absolutely irresistible, the kind of song you turn up loud with the windows down, singing along with a grin you didn’t realize was forming.
We caught up with Alexander to talk about late-night inspiration, dance floor scenes, Dua Lipa, glitter eyes, and the feeling of never wanting a perfect moment to end. Below, she dives into the story behind her buoyant song – and the rush that keeps her coming back for more.
Keep your eyes on me
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby
Shake, shake, shake it for me
No, I don’t wanna go home yet, baby
Can you keep your eyes on me?
The party’s slowing down
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby
Shake, shake, shake it for me
Before they shut it down
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby
Sleep is for the weak
I want you every time I drink
You’re never ever gonna get me to leave
Can you keep your eyes on me?
I don’t wanna go home yet, baby

“I Don’t Wanna Go Home” – Kita Alexander

A CONVERSATION WITH KITA ALEXANDER

Atwood Magazine: Kita, for those who are just discovering you today, what do you want them to know about you and your music?
Kita Alexander: Hopefully my music is going to make you feel lighter and happier but also know that if you want to cry, just tune into some of the lyrics!
What's the story behind your song “I Don’t Wanna Go Home”?
Kita Alexander To be honest, the concept that was developed in the studio came from the night before, at the chateau Marmont. It was Grammys week and I was having so much fun with friends for a night out and I annoyingly sent myself home earlier than I would have liked because I had a session the next day that I wanted to be sharp for. Being a mum, means I have to be strategic with my time, which means I have to be smart about my time away from home working, which means when I’m away working, I need to be working to the best of my ability so that I can spend more time at home with my family and less time fucking around at work. So on this LA trip, I dragged my sorry ass away from the fun so I could show up and write a hit song. Funnily enough I did just that, got the story I needed and had enough brain cells that I could write a good song.
And what is this song about, personally, for you?
Kita Alexander The song actually shifted from the initial story of partying and not wanting to leave the party. I wanted to make it more personal to me so I sat with it for a while asking myself this same question. I realised that I wanted to make this song about my fans, live shows and our connection we have together on tour. I have this exact feeling of not wanting to go home when I’m singing on stage. I wanted my fans to know how much it means to me to play for them.

Your lyrics feel like they were written to capture the middle of the dance floor: “Take it off, mess it up, feel the rush…” What does this scene mean to you, and what inspired you to capture it in song?
Kita Alexander It’s what I look at when I’m on stage, people on the dance floor dancing and singing along, it’s messy, it’s fun and it’s alive. I want people to let go of everything, and feel the rush of all the energy moving around them and in them at one of my shows.
Having some fun with it, what is your favourite song to dance to ~ if you had to choose just one (or two if need be)?
Kita Alexander I can dance and move to anything. Currently I love hearing Dua Lipa when I’m out, she always makes me dance, and then I love a good throwback, for example “Africa” by Toto.

What do you hope listeners take away from “I Don’t Wanna Go Home,” and what have you taken away from creating it and now putting it out?
Kita Alexander I really just wanted to encapsulate the feeling of having the best time ever and never wanting it to end. I want listeners to be transported back to the last time they felt that way. I’ve taken away that I have to be confident in myself and my abilities. I was hesitant in releasing this song because it’s quite simple lyrically, but it always made me feel amazing when I listened back. So trusting myself to even release it in the first place and then seeing that my trust was well placed because the response to the song since releasing it has been amazing.
