Hayley Williams is getting national attention for more than just her music.

The Paramore frontwoman was recently thrust into the spotlight for repeatedly screaming “F*** ICE” and “Free Palestine” on her 2026 The Hayley Williams Show tour.

These not-so-little protests quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention – including from the Department of Homeland Security.

A DHS spokesperson told Fox News that Williams should “thank” federal law enforcement officers for their service, “not belittle their sacrifice.”

But Hayley Williams doesn’t mince her words.

The singer responded on her Instagram story, bluntly writing: “and may I suggest all Nazi b*tches suck on my fat d*ck.”

Going into her second sold-out Hollywood Bowl concert, the energy was already politically charged. Fans wore “Ice Out” pins and “Protect the Dolls” shirts. But while the message behind the music is an integral part of Williams’ storytelling, there’s such a dichotomy in watching her carry all of that weight while goofing off and being one of the best vocalists alive.

When Williams puts on a concert, she doesn’t do it halfway. She’s jumping, screaming, spitting, and everything in between. She had a beautiful string quartet accompany her for a few songs. Before “True Believer,” though, she made her stance on religion abundantly clear, solemnly saying, “the greatest threat to American democracy is Christian nationalism.”

“They put up chainlink fences
underneath the biggest bridges.
They pose in Christmas cards
with guns as big as all their children.
They say that Jesus is the way
but then they gave him a white face,
So they don’t have to pray
to someone they deem lesser than them.”

At one point, there was a goofy Mirtazapine infomercial, which the crowd cheered for. The person next to me chuckled.

“It’s not what you think it is,” he said in a singsong way to no one in particular, just as the first notes to “Hard” started.

Some of the fan-favorite tracks were, not so surprisingly, the rock-forward “Mirtazapine,” the now-viral “Ice in my OJ,” and the longtime hits “Stay the Night” performed with Zedd and “Airplanes” performed with opener Rico Nasty.

During the closing song, “Parachute,” Williams typically invites a celebrity guest, from Caleb Hearon to Julien Baker, to sing with her. When Remi Wolf popped out, the crowd was in absolute stitches. Two fans near me started jumping up and down, while hundreds of people whipped out their phones to capture the moment.

For this writer, a personal highlight was “Kill Me,” where Williams has a chance to show off her effortless vocals. Anyone who doubts that Williams is a singer singer needs to hear this one live – the runs and high notes all just seem so easy for her when it’s obviously not for anyone else.

During this song, she has a split screen projected behind her with a camera on each of her bandmates. Unfortunately, I saw Blood Orange do something similar a few weeks prior, but that’s neither here nor there.

The visuals were so meticulously thought out and took center stage at a venue as iconic as the Hollywood Bowl. To transition into “Simmer,” the artist projected the words “The Hayley Williams Show” in a style reminiscent of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. For “Creepin,’” the stage was tinted a bright red, with blinking eyeballs projected behind the musicians.

Fabulous Los Angeles concert aside, Hayley Williams obviously created a legacy that’s firmly cemented in music history – there’s no denying that.

Her role as Paramore’s frontwoman lands her among the greats, Blondie and the Pretenders included, paving the way for so many of today’s best female-led bands.

Paramore as a whole shaped the pop punk scene, with their impact seeping into the discography of groups like Pvris, Pool Kids, and I’d argue superstar Slayyyter.

And even if she’s proud of being in a band, and screams about it during “Ice in my OJ,” Williams’ solo music and star quality shines with this tour.
