There’s a fire in “Yes I Will” that burns bright and unrelenting – a feverish desire set to jangling guitars, soaring harmonies, and tender-hearted resolve.
Of the Dell’s latest song is about not giving up on love; about stumbling, standing back up, and promising – to yourself and to that special someone – that you’ll do whatever it takes to make things right. The West Virginian trio wear their hearts unapologetically on their sleeves, delivering a raucous, radiant burst of earnest rock n’ roll passion. “Yes I Will” is a spirited and soulful eruption of devotion: An anthemic, harmony-soaked love song with Appalachian grit in its teeth and pure gold in its heart.

Don’t know what I’m feeling
But I’ve got this feeling now
Don’t know what you’re thinking
But I know you’ll come around
Took my chance on a misunderstanding
Got to get my second chance in
Gonna make you,
gonna make you mine
Gonna make you,
gonna make you mine
Oh yes I will, oh yes I will
Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “Yes I Will,” the second-ever single from Of The Dell – and a truly stunning introduction. Taken from the band’s upcoming debut album As Soon As Possible (out later this year), “Yes I Will” arrives June 24th as a longtime fan favorite finally given the studio treatment it deserves, produced Kory Caudill (Tyler Childers & The Food Stamps), engineered by Sean Truskowski at Ivy Hall Studios in Nashville, and mixed by Gordon Davidson at Abbey Road Studios.
A Huntington, West Virginia rock trio – comprised of twin brothers Corey and Cody Hatton, and powerhouse drummer Jeffrey McClelland – Of the Dell have carved out their own niche with a sound that’s equal parts Appalachian charm and vintage rock electricity, evoking echoes of Big Star, The Beatles, and The Who at their most melodic and unfiltered.
“I am so happy to see this song get released, it’s been a long time coming,” Cody Hatton shares. “We have recorded it multiple times, but this version is fantastic. [Our producer] Kory Caudill’s arrangement is perfect.”

A mainstay of their live set for years, “Yes I Will” is as catchy as it is cathartic.
It starts in uncertainty – “Don’t know what I’m feeling, but I’ve got this feeling now” – and builds into a triumphant promise: “Gonna make you, gonna make you mine / Oh yes I will.” Love here is messy and imperfect, but persistent. Mistakes are made, lessons are learned, and hope isn’t just held onto – it’s fought for. All the while, the band’s bright Rickenbacker guitars – a loving nod (and overt homage) to the Fab Four, if ever there was one – combined with their warm, sweet vocal performance, make for an endlessly enthralling, emotionally moving journey.
60 years after that fateful appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, the rules for making great music still apply – and Of the Dell seem to have found their own special sauce that pulls inspiration from history’s greats, while still leaving room for their own ‘signature’ rock n’ roll sound.
“This song was a mainstay in our set for years and we kinda shelved it,” Corey Hatton recalls, “but then Jeffrey suggested we bring it back, but in a different light. When we showed it to Kory he kinda took it and ran with a whole new arrangement that we fell in love with.”
The result is an undeniable anthem of longing and conviction. With three-part harmonies, searing riffs, and a driving rhythm section, Of the Dell blend classic ‘60s songwriting sensibilities with an Appalachian, Americana-laced edge. “Yes I Will” feels as timeless as it does timely – a reminder that love, at its core, is a risk worth taking.
“Who hasn’t felt like this at some point or another?” Corey Hatton adds.
Don’t know what I’m doing
But I’m gonna work it out
Don’t know where I’m going
But I’ll make it there somehow
Took my chance on another girl
Things just weren’t the same, oh, oh, oh
Gonna make you,
gonna make you mine
Gonna make you,
gonna make you mine
Oh yes I will, oh yes I will

Earnest, explosive, and irresistibly catchy, “Yes I Will” channels heartbreak into hope and resolve into radiance.
It’s the perfect introduction to a rising rock n’ roll band with something to prove – the kind of song you shout along to in the car with the windows down, a musical exhale for anyone who’s ever stumbled through love, but kept on going anyway. Of The Dell’s debut album As Soon As Possible is set to arrive later this year, and if “Yes I Will” is any indication, it’ll be one hell of a ride.
