Growing up singing duets to Katy Perry with his sister, Matty Reynolds quickly developed a love for music.
Nowadays, the musician finds himself singing alone, with his own lyrics, emotions, and inspiring sound attached. Like many modern-day successes, he began showcasing his songs on TikTok. Expressing himself online felt scary at first, but that feeling gradually disappeared. Experimenting on the internet taught Matty what works for him, both musically and mentally. After writing his fair share of melancholy love songs, these emotions began to consume him – leading to a decision to focus on incorporating encouragement into his lyrics.
While everyone faces hardship, Matty Reynolds puts an optimistic twist on his life experiences. His upcoming EP, Somebody Like Me, shares the innermost feelings and thoughts of the artist as he navigates a long-distance relationship with his girlfriend. Despite the challenges, Reynolds draws hope from the strength of their connection. This collection of uplifting love songs blends pop, folk rock, and Americana, encouraging listeners to focus on the good. These qualities shine through in Reynolds’ brand new single, “Timbuktu.”

Distance makes a heart grow fonder,
But I hate when I’m way down yonder,
That’s why every night I call her,
Just to say I love you once again
Just to say I love you from
“‘Timbuktu’ is about how the power of love surpasses the struggle of distance,” he tells Atwood Magazine. “The reason it means so much to me is because it was written so quickly, in the heat of my emotions – without any overthinking.”
“I was driving to see my long-distance girlfriend and the verses naturally came to me, exactly as you hear them today, perfectly describing what it feels like to be so far apart yet always knowing I’ll make that drive a million times over to make it back to her.”

These lyrics demonstrate that love conquers all – even distance. Though they may be far apart geographically, she is always with him in his heart. The song’s dedication and hopefulness offer listeners a beacon of light in the darkness.
New York to Timbuktu
All roads lead right back to you
Wherever my feet are
I’ll never be too far,
LA or out in the sticks
I’d drive all night to get my fix
Wherever my feet are
I’ll never be too far
To get back to where you are
Straying from the chorus, Matty Reynolds shows that he’ll go anywhere for a love like theirs. His devotion and adoration can be seen in this single, as he declares that he will follow her wherever she may be.
From Mexico up to the moon
The farthest star to Malibu
From heaven down to Tokyo
It doesn’t matter where I go
I’d learn to fly and steal a plane
And if I crash I’d hitch a train
And if that train runs off the tracks
I promise you I’ll make it back
