There’s an undeniable urgency flowing throughout denn.’s latest single: The New York City-based artist-to-watch comes out swinging hard in a flash of heated passion and raw, heartaching fervor, demanding our undivided attention as he explains why he’s none of his own to an ex. In two minutes flat he sets our souls on fire, expelling his own churning emotions through a song that effortlessly begs for repeat listens.

uh uh uh uh UH? - denn.
uh uh uh uh UH? – denn.
so who do you think that you are
to treat me this way
to treat me this way
you say it’s all love
but baby i hate
your guts, your entrails, your face
i wish you’d just stay
i wish you’d just stay
i wish you’d just stay

A sweaty emotional upheaval channeled into a hot-on-the-mic fever dream, “uh uh uh uh UH?” is our new obsession, and it’s sure to be yours as well. Released December 7, 2023 via Cecil Park Records, denn.’s seventh career single (his sixth of the year) follows on the heels of last month’s beautiful song “it’s happening,” itself an achingly intimate and brutally vulnerable eruption of heartache and longing “wrought from the dark and lonely depths of despair.”

An up-and-coming NYC-based artist, denn. (pronounced “den dot”) debuted his first song late last year and has been putting out a steady stream of singles ever since. Making a dreamy, ethereal sound he describes as “some form of pop,” the self-produced singer/songwriter has worn his heart on his sleeve throughout well-received tracks like “control,” “eat me,” and “rottenteeth” – all of which, like “it’s happening?” and now “uh uh uh uh UH?,” find him dwelling in the aftermath of what he calls a “life altering heartbreak.”

Incredibly finessed yet undeniably raw and just a bit gritty, “uh uh uh uh UH?” is an intense outpouring of visceral feeling – an expulsion, in some a sense, of emotions denn. has clearly been keeping buried deep inside for far too long. The song is named after the vocal uh‘s he employs throughout the track as a percussive, cathartic refrain.

“‘uh uh uh uh UH?’ is a cry of desperation masked by pop brightness centered around pushing past the rose-tinted glasses we often wear during an obsessive or intense relationship, to realize you are being mistreated and deserve more,” denn. tells Atwood Magazine. “People often masquerade as kind and righteous whilst draining you to fulfill their own validation and need for attention.”

“It’s a reminder that the ultimate “f*** you” is not to wage destructive war, but instead letting go and reigning victorious with quiet revenge based in improving one’s self and undergoing rigorous reflection to regain self-worth and anatomy over your actions once more, and triumph over someone who hurt and broke you.”

and you left me behind
and i cried
i just stare at the damn sky
i don’t hold hands, forget that
i tried to be your best guy
and i don’t care about you or him
getting way too rich just doing this sh*t so

At just two minutes and change in length, “uh uh uh uh UH?” is here and gone in a flash – yet in its wake denn. leaves us exhilarated, uplifted, inspired, and hungry for more.

Both his unapologetic attitude and his creative, fresh approach songwriting make denn. a definitive artist to watch in 2024, so stay tuned for more from this spellbinding artist as he continues to lay his soul bare in song.

denn. is reportedly ramping up to release his debut album, which will bring all of his currently-released songs together under one beautifully tender, turbulent, and sonically stunning umbrella of moving musical heartache.
