To love and lose is inevitable,” sings a pained Charlotte OC in her latest single, “but to truly love someone you have to lose it all.” A heavy-hearted acceptance of love and loss, Charlotte OC’s hauntingly beautiful “Inevitable” is a spellbinding ballad that reminds us what matters most in life.

To love and lose is inevitable
But to truly love someone you have to lose it all
Await the news you don’t wanna hear
I already miss you
Even though you’re here
Today i wear the saddest eyes I’ve seen
Perspective changes
Blue turns into green
You’re the only reason that i sing
Now I’m on a stage and I can’t hear a thing
Your voice don’t let the end begin

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “Inevitable,” the third single off Charlotte OC’s forthcoming second LP, Here Comes Trouble (out later this year via Embassy of Music). The song follows this past April’s double single “Bad Bitch” and “Forest” –previously described by Atwood Magazine as “two deeply vulnerable songs exploring self-worth and empowerment, love and connection” and “a stunning preview of what’s to come.”

While the song “Forest” found Charlotte O’Connor reckoning with love’s inevitable goodbye – the fact that breakup or death will ultimately force you to part ways – “Inevitable” feels like an all-the-more visceral realization of this fact and its bitter, sad truths. O’Connor’s voice trembles as she sings the harrowing chorus lines, pouring her heart into a bittersweet moment of grief and emotional wreckage as she brings to life the phrase, “I already miss you, even though you’re here.”

“This was the hardest song I’ve ever had to write,” Charlotte OC tells Atwood Magazine. “I wrote this song about my Dad when I found out he had cancer last year. This song is about the realization that no matter how much you don’t want it – losing someone is Inevitable and happens to all of us.”

:: REVIEW ::

A talented singer/songwriter and skilled performer, O’Connor has long excelled at bringing tremendous feeling to the forefront of her music. Last May’s Oh the Agony, Oh the Ecstasy EP put this ability on display as she treated audiences to “an emotional roller-coaster [that reaches] soulful, mature, and colorful new peaks as she surrenders herself in music.”

But “Inevitable” feels different – it’s immediate and intense, like a fresh wound. O’Connor copes with her emotions in real time on this song, delving into one of the hardest parts of life with knowing pain and raw vigor. The result is a soft, sweet, and stunning song that finds the beauty of life and love, even as it dwells in the pain of losing.
