Aren’t you gonna break? Don’t you wanna break? Don’t you wanna break all the time?

We’ve all got a breaking point.

And for most of us, it’s a matter of when, not if we’ll hit it – especially these days. Life is hard! Times are tough and people are struggling, suffering, and just scraping by on what they have. The traditional routes to “success” – those of our parents’ and grandparents’ generations – are no longer reliable or viable, and the “new book” has yet to be written – meaning we’re all just searching for answers in the darkness, blood pressure steadily rising, slowly headed toward that fateful moment of truth and reckoning.

Aren’t you gonna break?” Mood Bored ask us in their latest single – and the response feels all to obvious. The Dutch band chart our rise to a breaking point in the grunge pop anthem “All the Time,” a raging angst-fueled fever dream that aches with raw energy and unfiltered emotion.

go to school, get a job, work harder
get it right, love yourself, be smarter
got groceries you can’t pay
for your dinner

mom and daddy always told ya
you’re a winner
aren’t you gonna break?
don’t you wanna break?
don’t you wanna break all the –

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “All the Time,” the second single taken off Mood Bored’s forthcoming sophomore EP Too Much? (out February 21, 2025 via Mattan Records). The Netherlands based trio of Myrte Driesenaar (vocals, bass), Daan Stuyven (guitar), and Timo de Wit (drums), Mood Bored introduced themselves less than two and a half years ago, and have quickly gained fans through their bold, sonically and emotionally charged sound. 2023’s debut EP Bored offers the perfect introduction to their seamless blend of indie rock mentalities with indie pop aesthetics, where infectious beats and catchy melodies engulf the ears whilst radiant, roaring sounds and fiercely churning emotions consume the heart.

“All the Time” follows Too Much?‘s lead single “Wake Up With You (WUWU),” which Atwood Magazine previously praised as “an intoxicating, infectious indie pop anthem – the kind of song you can’t help but play on repeat, just to feel more of that sweet, seductive sonic sunshine.” Whereas that previous track, while also angsty, charmed its way into our ears and hearts by creating a feel-good frenzy, “All the Time” seduces the soul through more dramatic, gritty, and grungy means. Overdriven guitar riffs and chords ache with the stress and anxieties conveyed so vividly in Myrte Driesenaar’s moody, brooding lyrics; together, all three band members ebb and flow in sync as they capture a life slowly drifting away, ultimately reaching that breaking point.

Big house, sports car, real flashy
They don’t talk about the cash that’s tacky
You haven’t seemed sober in quite a while
Been a year since I genuinely seen you smile
Stuck on the couch,
stuck in your bed,
stare at your bank account
Happiness only starts at a certain amount

“After we wrote the song ‘All the Time,’ we immediately had a vision for the music video,” Mood Bored tell Atwood Magazine. “We saw someone slowly getting more depressed and desperate until they hit a breaking point, just like what happens in the music itself. We wanted it to feel eerie and weird, taking inspiration from movies like Requiem for a Dream.”

“We asked one of our good friends, Simone Mohring, to play the main character, and despite her not having any experience acting, she was immediately up for it. Another friend and filmmaker we met on tour, John Mackay, wanted to shoot the video with us, and he brought on two of his colleagues and friends for cinematography, camera work, and directing, Cece Chan and Ethan Grossman. They flew out from the US to shoot with us, and we banged out two music videos in two really long days on a very low budget.”

“The room that it’s shot in is a very small living room in our drummer Timo’s student house. The room looked nothing like what we had in mind for the video, so we wall-papered it ourselves over the course of two days, bought all of the props from charity shops, borrowed art from another friend to hang up, and found a free old tv online. The process was very exciting and inspiring. We’re so happy with how it turned out and it’s exactly what it should be.”

I don’t know how, I’m gonna make it out
I gotta go now, I gotta make it out
Aren’t you gonna break
Don’t you wanna break
Don’t you wanna break all the time?
