I’m redefining what it means to be a woman… I’m not afraid to be my kind of woman.

CLOVER isn’t asking for permission anymore. She’s reclaiming the mic, the mirror, and the meaning of womanhood on her own terms.

At once intimate and anthemic, “My Kind of Woman” is an emotionally charged, soul-stirring act of radical self-expression: Tender, sensual, and unflinchingly honest, the song is CLOVER’s power ballad for the spirit – a slow-burning, self-empowering reckoning that swells with vulnerability and strength in equal measure. It’s a song of reclaiming the body, rewriting the script, and stepping fully into the light of your own truth.

My Kind of Woman – CLOVER
You like what you see
And I don’t give a damn
Your perception of me
Is irrelevant
From the top of my head
To the tips of my toes
I’m golden
A precious stone
I’m mine to hold

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering the music video for “My Kind of Woman,” CLOVER’s first single since the release of her debut EP Atlas this past May. Born and raised in Frenchtown, New Jersey and now based in Brooklyn, Clover Stieve (aka CLOVER) is a singer, songwriter, and storyteller whose music blends the warmth of folk, the polish of pop, and the soul of ‘70s revival into a sound that feels at once timeless and urgent. Inspired by artists like Lake Street Dive, Maggie Rogers, and Carole King, her songs explore the intersections of grief and healing, spirituality and selfhood, love and sovereignty. Whether she’s delivering explosive groove-driven anthems or stripped-down ballads of quiet devastation, CLOVER writes from the heart – always vulnerable, always awake.

Her debut EP Atlas, released earlier this year, introduced her as an artist unafraid to look inward and sing outward, with Atwood Magazine praising the title track as an intimate anthem of awakening, aching “with weight and words unspoken as the singer/songwriter allows herself to breathe once more.” A few months later, “My Kind of Woman” continues that journey with fierce, feminine light and a bold embrace of identity.

CLOVER Unravels and Exhales in Her Soul-Baring “Atlas,” a Haunting & Healing Surrender to the Weight We Carry Within

Written as a reclamation of self and filmed just weeks after the passing of her father, “My Kind of Woman” holds layers of grief, reverence, sensuality, and sisterhood.

It’s both deeply personal and universally resonant – a song that affirms the power of softness, the beauty of difference, and the courage of living authentically in a world that asks us to conform.

“This video was filmed in Hawaii just weeks after my dad passed away,” CLOVER tells Atwood Magazine. “I arrived feeling raw, deep in grief, and in my most vulnerable state. On my first night there, I performed ‘My Kind of Woman’ at a house show, where I met a group of incredible women who deeply connected with the song. I asked if they’d be open to creating a music video with me during my time on the island, and everything fell into place so naturally.”

“Being held and supported by these women during such a difficult chapter was exactly what my heart needed. The video features a cast of powerful women: Hitomi Mochizuki, Cloe Breena, Katie Shim, Sequoyah Jones, Stella Javier, Renk Koçtürk, and Chloe Sit. Each one embodies a raw, unfiltered expression of the feminine – a rich, untamed spectrum. From softness to strength, stillness to wild freedom, they reveal the many faces of womanhood.”

“This is more than a music video – it’s a celebration of sisterhood. Not rooted in comparison, but in connection, support, and rising together.”

My softness is a cycle
Spinning ‘round the womb
Saturated scarlet
Uterus an artist
Watercolor blooms
Do you understand
Pussy is power
The power’s in her hands

This is more than a music video – it’s a celebration of sisterhood. Not rooted in comparison, but in connection, support, and rising together.

Directed by Caley Senters and Dani Sundream, and edited by Rebecca Dearden, the “My Kind of Woman” music video captures the essence of that sisterhood in every frame.

It’s soaked in natural light and shot through a lens of tenderness – a visual love letter to the many expressions of femininity. Whether in moments of still embrace or playful motion, the women in this video move as one: Held, empowered, seen.

CLOVER’s impassioned lyrics radiate with clarity and conviction:

I won’t suffocate my curves
I know my body’s worth
I’m redefining what it means to be a woman
My kind of woman
Living my truth will set me free
Let the light shine on me
I’m not afraid to be
My kind of woman

She sings not just for herself, but for everyone who’s ever felt unseen, policed, or pressured to shrink themselves down. As she explains:

“‘My Kind of Woman’ came to me at a time when I really needed it. I’ve always loved being a woman and felt deeply connected to the power women have to create life – but there were always expectations I struggled to embrace. Shaving, wearing makeup, clothes that restricted me – I often felt disconnected from the norms surrounding femininity. The first thing to go was the bra. I was lucky to attend a college where ditching it was the norm, and that act became a defining part of my personal style. Shaving came next. I had painful reactions to it and dreaded the process. I remember asking someone I was seeing if they minded if I stopped shaving my legs. They didn’t care – which was a relief – but that was quickly followed by the realization that I’d needed someone else’s permission to make that choice. And I didn’t like the way that felt.

“I started asking myself what choices were truly mine, and which ones I was making to be accepted or approved. That journey wasn’t just about body hair – it was about reclaiming my body, my style, my voice. This song is about honoring the truth of who you are, even if it doesn’t fit someone else’s idea of ‘feminine.’ It’s about power, softness, freedom, and self-expression. ‘My Kind of Woman’ is an anthem for anyone defining womanhood on their own terms – because the most powerful thing you can be is yourself.”

‘My Kind of Woman’ is an anthem for anyone defining womanhood on their own terms – because the most powerful thing you can be is yourself.

Raw and radiant, sensual and strong, “My Kind of Woman” is CLOVER’s call to liberation – an invitation to feel more, fear less, and live loudly.

It’s a song that doesn’t just reflect one woman’s truth, but opens the door for others to claim theirs. In singing so boldly and vulnerably about body, identity, grief, power, and reclamation, CLOVER creates space – space to be soft and fierce, to be angry and free, to heal and to glow. “My Kind of Woman” grants permission: To question the expectations we’ve inherited. To unlearn what doesn’t serve us. To exist in the fullness of who we are, without apology.

I know I can’t change the weather
But I can clear the internal rain
And I know that your thoughts of me
Shouldn’t equate to pain
When I’m my kind of woman

The music video, too, is its own revelation – a visual sanctuary where femininity is multifaceted and magnetic. The sight of women holding each other, laughing, crying, embracing in all their natural, intuitive power is its own kind of revolution. In a world that too often polices, diminishes, and distorts womanhood, CLOVER offers a vision of possibility – of connection without comparison, of community without conformity.

For anyone who’s ever felt unseen, erased, or silenced, this is a song that says: You are already enough. You are already whole. And your version of womanhood – whatever that looks like – is worthy of love, light, and liberation.
