A profound singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Melbourne-born Harp Samuels exudes talent and feeling. His music is soft and subtle, emotive and deep – qualities that are particularly emphasized in the heartfelt “Wanting,” in which Samuels expresses just how terrifying and awesome the idea of falling in love feels.

“The song was written over the span of 3 or 4 years, and was inspired by Jeff Buckley’s ‘Hallelujah,’ how it was just one guitar part and one vocal part,” Samuels shares. “It’s about how scary it is to fall in love, and the many things that have to fall into place for love to happen. It’s also about how loving someone and letting them into your world means letting go of independence and giving them the time and space that you would normally have given something else – i.e., someone who you love enough to sacrifice for. The video was shot over the course of 7 months in Oregon, California, and Australia.”
Inspired by the likes of Damien Rice, Bon Iver, The Civil Wars and John Mayer, as well as soundtrack composers Thomas Newman and John Powell, Harp Samuels dwells in the seconds and embraces emotion. His “Wanting” visual is beautiful and brilliant, a specially nuanced accompaniment that perfectly magnifies the complex feelings that flow through “Wanting.”
