How’s that old saying go? You can’t love someone else until you learn to love yourself. It’s a well-worn phrase perfect for cliché books, movies, poems, and cheesy one-liners, but the meaning nonetheless holds weight. Once we’ve learned to love ourselves, our opportunities seem limitless and life feels full of potential. Singer/songwriter Kate Yeager captures the empowering glow of self-love in her dynamic new song “Falling,” a radiant pop song full of invigorating energy.

Falling – Kate Yeager
For a long, long time
I didn’t feel clean
I could touch your hand in mine
Boiling underneath my skin
I could close my eyes and swear you’re there
But you refused to say goodbye
so I refused to even care
How does it feel to lose all your power?
How does it feel to know
I’m better off without ya?

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “Falling,” Kate Yeager’s fourth single of 2019 (independently out September 19, 2019). A New York-based singer/songwriter with a degree from NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, 23-year-old Yeager lives and breathes the saying, “Reckless compassion. Reckless positivity.” Her songs reflect this lifestyle, as she echoes joie de vivre in recent releases “Impulse,” “Kiss Me Like You Mean It,” and even the hearty “Keep My Distance.”

Yeager has been steadily ramping things up for herself this year as her new songs enjoy a modicum of success; in all, she’s eclipsed over 125,000 combined streams just on Spotify alone. “Falling” is sure to be yet another notch in the artist’s belt, with its infectiously charming chorus aching intimate emotion as she tears into an ex by propping up herself:

Cause I am falling in love
With falling out of love
Cause I am falling in love
With falling out of love with you

“This song is called ‘Falling’ and it is about falling in love with yourself,” Yeager tells Atwood Magazine  “We all have that one person that gets under our skin and is so hard to wash ourselves clean of. This song is about that moment at the end of a relationship, where that person starts to lose their grip on you and the space that they held in your mind. This song is about the moment where you are able to look at that person and think to yourself, ‘You have no power over me anymore.’ What I love about this moment, is it’s a reclamation of your heart and your mind and everyone deserves that kind of self love.”

What I love about this moment, is it’s a reclamation of your heart and your mind and everyone deserves that kind of self love.

“Falling” is an impassioned, feelgood embrace of the self. Stream Yeager’s latest exclusively on Atwood Magazine, and find yet another reason to smile today!
