Fate got us
Cupid shot us
I hit the jackpot, underestimating
Your powers, sweet and sour
I’m so average but you make me feel amazing
Am I lucky? Who cares, fuck it
I don’t need an I don’t need an explanation
Just you baby on the daily
You be everything I never knew I even wanted

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “Take Care,” Chloe Tang’s third single of 2019. Following the heavier trap influences within her recent releases “Lame” and “Hype,” “Take Care” finds Tang turning to brighter, lighter sounds in a song that breathes with summer’s sweetness and charm. The LA-based, Phoenix-born singer/songwriter worked with frequent collaborator Thoreau to make a warm ode to love and the excitement around intimate connection.

“Thoreau and I were in a session working on a different song, but I ended up showing him the chords I wrote to “take care” and he loved them,” Chloe Tang tells Atwood Magazine. “I had a little bit of melody and lyrics but he build out the production, like immediately. We were both vibing really hard with it and that was about a year ago… we’ve both been so excited to release it.”

Tang continues, “It’s really different than a lot of the music I’m writing now, but it represents a really specific time in my life when I met a really special guy and this song always reminds me of our honeymoon phase. I just felt like nothing could go wrong. I can’t wait put out some positive vibes into the world with this song!”

I guess I’m in commitment mode
But that’s just that’s just how it goes
Baby tell me how you do it
so carelessly yeah yeah

I know you ain’t trying you just
know how to take care of me

Take care take of me

A blend of pop and R&B fuels Tang’s piano-backed, vocally-driven melodies as she asserts the singularity of her love in a buoyant, euphoric chorus. There’s no darkness to be found as she rejoices: Whereas her other recent songs have explored multiple sides to more complex situations, “Take Care” is intentionally devoid of such complication: It’s an attempt to cut out the BS and simply celebrate the oneness of a relationship that, for all its flaws or issues (and everyone has them), is everything one could ever hope to have. Tang passionately and directly sings, “Can I ask you something drastic? I don’t need an I don’t need an answer right now. Wanna be mine for a long time? You be everything I never knew I even wanted.

Made for me, so adoring
I must’ve slipped and fell into a trap
But fast forward, you’re my shoulder
Was an accident but I’m not mad about it
Can I ask you something drastic?
I don’t need an I don’t need
an answer right now

Wanna be mine for a long time?
You be everything I never
knew I even wanted
