Love can light a fire in our souls, and in Dex Green’s third single, that inner heat burns more than just our ears.

The Nashville artist delivers a seductive and smoldering reverie in “Here She Comes,” a psych- and soul-soaked exploration of desire, love, and longing. Haunting, hypnotic, and aching, it’s a poignant acknowledgment on the split between fantasy and reality – and how the things we may dream about, are not the things we actually want (or need) in this life. Be careful what you wish for.

The sound of silence eats the sun
Lay there watch the ceiling spin
The hair stands up above the surface of my skin
Been waiting, been waiting
Here she comes, there she goes
Waited for forever, forever

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “Here She Comes,” Dex Green’s third career single and the latest track taken off from his upcoming debut solo album, Imaginary War (out June 28 via 3Sirens Music Group). A Nashville-based artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer with an impressive rap sheet (his work includes collaborations with Elvis Costello, Margo Price, and Shemekia Copeland – her 2022 album Done Come Too Far earned him a nomination at the 66th GRAMMY Awards), Dex Green is no stranger to the music industry; while for years he’s been a behind-the-scenes partner, 2024 sees Green stepping into the spotlight with sweaty charisma.

Green has thus far released three singles in quick succession, starting with “It’s Only the End of the World” in early May and “Days Fly By” later that same month. Drenched in hot melodies and radiant harmonies, “Here She Comes” arrives as the latest look at Imaginary War, finding Green dwelling in a space of intimate reflection:

Emptiness fills up the room
Thoughts go climbing up the walls
Must have said too much
Like nothing was said at all
Keep dreaming, keep dreaming
Here she comes, there she goes
Waited for forever, forever

“‘Here She Comes’ is a little meditation on love,” Green tells Atwood Magazine. “The kind of love you think you want. The kind of love you think is real. Often in life, when we get what we want, we realize it’s just not meant for us and have to let it go.”

Cinematic and stirring, “Here She Comes” is a tantalizing, hypnotic outpouring of intense passion and raw emotion. Stream the song exclusively on Atwood Magazine, and stay tuned for more to come as Dex Green continues to tease his upcoming debut album Imaginary War, out at the end of this month!
