“I Think That You’re Pretty” – Kid Prexy

Coy and devoted, yet raw and unfiltered all at once, “I Think That You’re Pretty” captures the frantic frenzy of a primordial crush. Kid Prexy transports us back to our former selves; withdrawn and unenthused by the everyday monotony of high school until a beacon of hope appears in the sly corners of flirtation. A part of his upcoming third EP produced by Kevin Thrasher, the themes of the project so far hit like a teenage time capsule. Ranging from the shocking highs of a first love on “Shooting Star” to the isolating throes of anxiety on “In My Head,” the first two singles off the EP match the nature of his freshly released “I Think That You’re Pretty.”

Let Kid Prexy take you back to high school with his visceral lyrics that continue to ring true, even years after graduation.

Face it –
My eyes down until I caught yours
I think that you’re pretty
Hope you know the feeling that you give me
I don’t wanna live without you
Your telling all your friends you think I’m cute
Go ahead, take my hand
And we’ll all get better
Just us, you know we’re meant to be together
Please don’t change your mind
It’s me and you tonight

The anthemic chorus is simple, saccharine, and reminiscent of movement before his time. Kid Prexy draws inspiration from an expansive history of pop-punk icons and is in turn on the way to becoming one himself. His producer, Kevin Thrasher, has worked with greats including Machine Gun Kelly, Travis Barker, Blink 182, and JXDN to name a few. The lyrics demonstrate a shocking depth of self-awareness for his age that could only be attributed to artistry.

Faded in my room alone
Thinking ‘bout the things that I’ve done
Hate this, I’ve been playing a game
But now I’m not the same, got no one

Both on “In My Head” and “I Think That You’re Pretty,” Kid Prexy isn’t afraid to admit that he’s an outsider.

He’s able to harness his frustration into the gritty, transcendent riffs that surf the electric undercurrents of his track. He finds truth in devotion and remains hopeful that despite his age, the depth of his connections are pure.

Kid Prexy reveals, “I wrote this song to express the feeling you get when you see someone that you’re instantly attracted to and you can’t stop thinking about them.”

She thinks I’m a rockstar,
But I don’t wanna go and make amends
Girl tell me how your lips taste
Because I will not fall in love again
You’re my one and only
Just want you to hold me
I don’t want to talk
I just want you to know –
I think that you’re pretty
Hope you know the feeling that you give me
I don’t wanna live without you
Your telling all your friends you think I’m cute
Go ahead, take my hand
And we’ll all get better
Just us,
You know we’re meant to be together
Please don’t change your mind
It’s me and you tonight

Kid Prexy Shoots for the Stars With His Catchy, Appropriately-Titled “Shooting Star”

:: TODAY'S SONG ::

The sonics are equally as nostalgic and vibrant as the lyrics themselves.

Nostalgic in a sense that there is something warmly familiar in the spirit of the track, but portrayed with newfound life through the gaze of a whole new generation. Featuring dramatic plunges of percussion, cataclysmic riffs that surge through the surface, and a blunt vocal from Kid Prexy who gives you his heart, “I Think That You’re Pretty” is a breathless free-fall through the atmosphere.

It’s voices like Kid Prexy that define the future of movements, his being pop-punk. Elaborating on the dark corners of budding artistry and the light that breaks through the cracks of his youth, Kid Prexy offers us a piece of his soul with this release. Unpretentious, electric, and honest, “I Think That You’re Pretty” is a track that will go down in history.
