Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering the music video for “When I Fall From The Sky,” the titular song and closing track off Misty Coast’s recently released sophomore album of the same name (April 16, 2021). Described as a “survival guide” (each track offers ways to cope with insomnia and anxiety), When I Fall From The Sky follows 2019’s debut album Melodaze with a spectacular conceptual soundtrack to the real world, doused in the stuff of our dreams: Mesmerizing psychedelic soundscapes come to life throughout a dynamic, expressive, and multi-textured tapestry that doesn’t shy away from (or sugarcoat) the darkness, but doesn’t get us down, either; the beauty of Misty Coast is that members Linn Frøkedal and Richard Myklebust can bring out the magic and wonder in anything.
On their album’s finale, the duo’s spark gets put to good use as they weave warbly, droning, and whining guitars together around wavy vocals, heavy drums, and more. With their heads in the air and their feet on the ground, the pair make the most of both worlds with a fine-tuned balance of chaos and control.

“‘When I Fall From the Sky’ is the anthem of the album, and it really sums up everything,” the band explain. “We wanted it to have effects sounding like a traveling circus, and make us envision colorful lights, chaos, clowns and acrobats.”
A stunning song in its own right, “When I Fall From the Sky” comes to life with a compelling video melding reality with abstraction – and plenty of eye-grabbing color.
“When we make music, we love playing with contrasts, and we often mix beautiful melodies with noise, strange sounds and unorthodox arrangements,” Misty Coast tell Atwood Magazine. “We wanted to emphasize contrasts in the video, by shooting in two completely different environments. You have the paradise-like, sunny island, where the atmosphere is playful and bright, and on the other hand you have the dark, noisy city leaving us in a blood-red light.”
Some may experience “When I Fall From the Sky” as a hushed, serene lullaby, whilst others may hear as raw reflection of turmoil; both are true for this track, whose seamless psych-pop mélange intoxicates the eyes and ears in all the right ways. Discord and beauty really can coalesce.
