Today, Los Angeles-based multi-disciplinary artist and producer Lauren Mia celebrates some of the incredible women who have inspired and shaped her artistic journey in a special playlist for Atwood Magazine’s Women’s History Month series!
Says Mia, “This playlist celebrates some of the incredible women who have inspired and shaped my artistic journey – from powerful techno pioneers to spiritual soundscape creators. Each artist here represents a unique expression of feminine energy in electronic music, and pure creative fearlessness. During International Women’s Month, I wanted to showcase the spectrum of sounds that women are bringing to dancefloors worldwide.”
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Lauren Mia’s recent output includes remixes for Boris Brejcha’s Fckng Serious label and Pretty Pink, alongside her independent ‘Spectral Reverie’ EP. This string of releases built on the momentum of her late-2023 debut album ‘RE:BIRTH’ and its subsequent 10-track remix compilation featuring reimaginings from Alfa Romero, Aalson, SKALA, Anakim, Binaryh, and more. January saw her inaugurate Halcyon Label with “Sapiosensual”, building on momentum generated by her Armada Music Electronic Elements debut “Halcyon” in late 2024.
Parallel to her studio endeavors, Lauren Mia’s live performances across 2024 demonstrated the practical application of her musical philosophy across prestigious venues including Brooklyn Mirage/Avant Gardner, Hi Ibiza, and Soho Garden. Her festival appearances at Zamna, About You Pangea, and Magic Break have further established her international presence, complemented by comprehensive tours throughout India, Europe, the United States, and an extensive Australasian circuit. This momentum continues into 2025, with Lauren confirmed to make her debut festival performance at Insomniac’s flagship festival EDC Las Vegas as part of the Interstellar Recordings showcase.

FEMININE FREQUENCIES
by Lauren Mia
Lauren Mia – “Sapiosensual“
This was my first release of the year, and one I hold especially close to my heart. With this record, I felt deeply connected to my feminine energy allowing my compassion, emotional depth, and vulnerability to guide the creative process. It’s a reflection of how I love: through feeling, through presence, through soul. I often find myself falling for the minds and energies of others, it hasn’t been about the physical for me. It’s about intellect, the essence, that draws me in. Something that I really admire about myself as a woman.
Amelie Lens – “Falling for You“
I’ve been a fan of Amelie for a long time, and this track felt like such a refreshing shift from what I remember from her work earlier on. It leans more into melodic and progressive territory. For me, it highlights a more feminine side of her techno productions, which I found beautiful and inspiring. I love when artists unveil different layers of themselves.
Blossom – “About You“
Blossom and I met many moons ago while interning at Dim Mak Records, back when we were both still students, just starting out. Watching her grow and evolve into the artist she is today has been nothing short of inspiring. The way she’s carved out her sound and found her home in Drum & Bass is extraordinary. She’s a wildly talented producer and an undeniable force in the electronic music scene.
Mary Droppinz – “Pink Lambo“
Droppinz is such a vibe — truly one of the most unique female artists in our scene. Her authenticity shines through everything she does, from her sound to her overall presence, and that’s something I deeply respect and admire. I’m lucky to call her a friend. This track is sexy, fun, and never fails to get me moving.
ANNA – “Future Hearts“
ANNA has always been an artist I’ve looked up to. She’s such a powerful force in this industry. I’ve always loved her music but even more recently, I’ve felt a deep resonance with her journey with plant medicine, consciousness, and spirituality. Her approach to studio workflow is something I truly admire, and her skill with analog gear is absolutely next level. There’s wisdom and depth in everything she creates.
