Love is timeless: A forever feeling that transcends borders, cultures, space, and place.

Like music, it’s one of the few universal languages we all share – and despite the millions of silly love songs already out there, more and more love songs arrive every day, each one capturing a slice of that oh-so familiar story of two hearts becoming one.

Love and love songs are prevailing, enduring – in vogue and on trend – and perhaps it’s only fitting that a band with a timeless sound would debut with a timeless topic. London’s New Gaze soar on wings of sweet folk pop warmth and wonder in “All We Can See,” a sun-kissed, love-soaked seduction. Dreamy and gentle, radiant and rousing, it’s an exhilarating display of infatuation’s infectiousness and irresistibility; after all, there’s no better feeling than falling headfirst in love.

I look at you
You look at me
We’re all we can see
We’re all we can see
It’s all I need
What can I do?
I’m so in love with you
You’re all I can see,
What you’re doing to me
Is only, love, just love

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering the Aubrey Simpson-directed music video for “All We Can See,” New Gaze’s beautiful best-foot-forward. Released back in April as the A-side to a double-single (that also featured the equally enchanting, soul-stirring song “Dystopian Days”), “All We Can See” is two and a half minutes of passionate romantic revelry: The British pop trio of Julian Bayliss (piano & arrangements), Andrés Alcover (lead vocals & guitar), and Rollo Ellison (vocals, guitar) hold nothing back in painting a spirited sonic portrait of intimate connection at its best.

Together, the three-piece craft a dazzling ode to love’s first fall – that initial honeymoon stage full of wondrous firsts, where butterflies fill you up inside at nearly every occasion.

“‘All We Can See’ is about lovers in the early stages of infatuation, when they suddenly only have eyes for the person they’re falling in love with,” the band tell Atwood Magazine. “It speaks of being taken over by the feelings associated with that departure into romance, where they are both going through a similar thing yet are unsure whether the other person feels the same. We were nearing the date of our Rockfield sessions and in need of new songs, Andrés brought this one in with just the chords, melody and a few lines of the verses. Together, we worked it into a fully formed song in a couple of hours, finishing the lyrics and adding harmonies before then taking it to the rest of the band (Zak, Mischa, and Archie) so they could write their own instrument parts.”

“Recording the track at Rockfield was an absolute dream. Our producer Bruno Ellingham had been the in-house engineer there for years and managed to get us a discounted rate, without which we’d never have been able to go (thank you Bruno!). It of course wouldn’t have been the true Rockfield experience without a tour from the legendary owner Kingsley Ward, who casually informed us that half of the ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ tapes were still lost in a barn somewhere. The bucolic Welsh countryside provided the perfect backdrop for our creative process, and we spent many a night tracking all together in Studio 2 until the wee small hours. After our time at Rockfield came to an end, we went to Bruno’s studio in Bath to finish the record.”

“From the beginning, this song was screaming for strings, so while we were doing the Bath recording sessions, Julian started scoring the arrangement. Once it was ready, we got the strings recorded by a 20-piece orchestra in Croatia who played the parts beautifully. After being mixed into the record, they gave the overall sound a different colour and made it soar.”

The orchestra’s presence adds an elegant, graceful touch to an already charming, captivating musical experience – one whose dazzling melodies are elevated and enhanced by the band’s gorgeous, tender, and heartfelt poetry:

Here I go
Truth be told
I’m going through the motions
You already know
What I know
So come on
Turn me on
I look at you
You look at me
We’re all we can see
We’re all we can see
It’s all I need

While the Welsh countryside helped inspire the band during their recording sessions, it’s the scenic, ever-beautiful Lake District that serves as the stunning backdrop for their debut single’s music video. It’s a bucolic, breathtaking escape into New Gaze’s burgeoning world – one filled with romance and reverie, euphoria and ecstasy; where love is never in short supply, and we can bask in its glow for as long as our legs allow.

What can I do?
I’m so in love with you
You’re all I can see,
What you’re doing to me
Is only, love, just love

“One of our great mates Aubrey Simpson directed the ‘All We Can See’ video on an absolute shoestring budget, and we can’t thank him enough,” the band’s Andrés Alcover share. “We decided to echo the pastoral surroundings of Rockfield by heading up to the Lake District for a day shoot – in December no less!”

“I don’t know what our expectations were, but fighting the torrential Lake District rain and working with about six hours of daylight made shooting a difficult process (to say the least). Every time we had to strip off our waterproofs for a scene we had about five minutes before the noticeable shivering crept into shot. At one point things got so bad that we had to have a “Car Heater Break” to get some life back in us. Nonetheless we’re very happy with how it all turned out and are very excited to be sharing it with the readership of Atwood!”
