“Fell in Love with Christmas” lives in that tender space where memory meets magic, where the season stretches wide with possibility, and love becomes the spark that brings the whole world into focus. Built on gentle piano and wrapped in nostalgia, Toby Gad and Anthony Gargiula’s dreamy song glows with a heart full of cheer, eyes filled with childlike wonder, and the unmistakable sweetness of finding a deeper meaning in the holidays than you ever expected to find. Here it goes, “Let It Snow”
is playing on the radio
Has December
always been this cold?
Dusting off this old box
all the Christmas lights tied up in knots
Neighbours decorating
I stay home alone
That’s always what I’ve said
but I never would have guessed
That you would change
the story when we met

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering the music video for “Fell in Love with Christmas,” the heartwarming holiday ballad from GRAMMY®-winning and Diamond-certified songwriter Toby Gad and fast-rising pop artist Anthony Gargiula. Their collaboration arrives as part of Gad’s all-original holiday album Piano Diaries – Christmas, released November 7th via Kite Records, a project that brings world-class vocalists to the piano to turn their own intimate memories into new seasonal classics. Co-written with Jules Brave, “Fell in Love with Christmas” glows with vulnerability and warmth, transforming a once-lonely December into a season reborn through connection, affection, and the tiny miracles of being seen and loved.

“Writing this song with Toby and my best friend, Jules Brave, truly meant so much to me. Christmas music has always been my favorite, and this is the first Christmas song I’ve ever had the chance to write,” Gargiula tells Atwood Magazine. “After meeting Toby and singing with him at the Grammy Museum, I knew I wanted to collaborate with him one day, and I’m so grateful this opportunity came to life. This song captures the joy of finding love during the holidays and reminds us to hold onto that ‘childlike sense of wonder’ we too often forget. It means so much to me because I believe we were able to put into words what so many people feel when they’re surrounded by the ones they love this time of year.”

In many ways, Gargiula’s words capture the song’s beating heart – the way love can soften the edges of the season and infuse familiar rituals with new warmth. It’s a feeling that reaches far beyond one person’s story, as Gad experienced that shift in his own life as well.

“On this song we talked about Anthony and me both being something like ‘Christmas-haters’ for a while,” he shares. “Anthony said after he fell in love over Christmas, they began celebrating it together, and that made him fall in love with Christmas. The same happened to me after my wife and my kids made Christmas a wonderful experience again after years of being single.”

What makes “Fell in Love with Christmas” so affecting is its emotional transparency. The song doesn’t shy away from the ache of past Decembers – the cold rooms, the quiet houses, the boxes of tangled lights that never quite made it out. The opening lines feel familiar to anyone who has stood on the edges of the holiday and wondered what everyone else was celebrating. But the moment love arrives, the entire world tilts: “My childlike sense of wonder that I thought that I outgrew has come back even stronger, like the reindeer on the roof.” That lyric alone holds an entire transformation. Suddenly clichés feel charming, sweaters feel warmer, the tree looks taller, and the lights glow as if someone plugged them into your own heartbeat.

Gargiula’s voice is the anchor – expressive, resonant, and soul-stirring. Every phrase blooms with sincerity, carrying both the softness of intimacy and the soaring sweetness of revelation. There’s a timelessness in how he delivers these lines, a gentle ache that makes the song feel like memory in motion. Gad’s piano accompaniment sets the emotional landscape, understated and elegant, while the melody glistens with that unmistakable sense of possibility that only December seems to hold.

The song’s central line – “When I fell in love with you, I fell in love with Christmas too” – is more than a refrain; it’s the thesis of a transformation many listeners will recognize. Love doesn’t just make the holiday magical; it makes it meaningful. It reframes the rituals, softens the sharp edges of loneliness, and turns the season into an invitation rather than an obligation.

“Fell in Love with Christmas” ultimately shines as a reminder that wonder can return at any age, that joy often arrives through the people who enter our lives at the right moment, and that the heart has a way of resurrecting what we thought we’d outgrown.

Together, Toby Gad and Anthony Gargiula reach for something honest, earnest, and undeniably human – the way love can shift our perspective and brighten old traditions into something fresh and new. It’s a song built on small details and quiet revelations, the kind that remind us why these moments matter. As part of Piano Diaries – Christmas – a collection built on memory, vulnerability, and storytelling – it stands tall as one of the album’s most heartfelt and affecting offerings.

With the release of its music video, that spirit comes into clearer focus: A celebration of connection, renewal, and the unexpected ways love can transform the holidays. In a season defined by ritual and repetition, “Fell in Love with Christmas” offers a gentle reminder of what we stand to gain when we allow ourselves to feel it.
