Young  West Yorkshire five-piece Full Colour are living the teenage dream as they quickly become one of the most exciting emerging indie bands in the UK. Conrad Berriff (vocals), Will Bolton (guitar), Alex Holdsworth (guitar), Henry Strangeway (bass) and Dillon Harrison (drums) are the lads behind the upcoming band Full Colour, who at ages 16-18, are already making impressive waves in the industry.

Times Change” is the energetic, drum-led new single from the Yorkshire-based band. The track was produced by Larry Hibbitt, who is known for his work with Sea Girls and Nothing But Thieves, and mastered by Robin Schmidt, who also mastered The 1975’s recent hit “If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)”. With the support and approval of such influential figures in the industry and their indisputable ability for writing euphoric music, Full Colour’s popularity is building momentum at a rapid pace.

Since Full Colour formed last year and released their first track “Miles Apart”, the band has received support from Radio 1, toured with Vistas, Larkins, and Love Fame Tragedy, and ‘Miles Apart’ was added to Spotify’s Best of The Indie List 2019. 2020 has come with a very specific set of trials and tribulations, but this zealous quintet has remained undeterred. With new music set for release in the coming months and live shows planned for later this year, it seems as though Full Colour are ploughing full-steam ahead.

When asked about “Times Change”, Berriff explained, “This song is basically all about moving away from home and wondering whether certain people will miss you and how you’ll cope without them. It was recorded in London which is quite fitting considering lyrically it’s set there. The song took on quite a few forms before we eventually found the right one that stuck.”

I’ll wait outside for you
And pretend that I’m fine
I’ll stay in line for you
But now I’m leaving you behind

Moving out and moving on are the themes behind “Times Change”, which was initially called ‘The City’. Inspired by Berriff’s move back to Yorkshire from London, the track dwells on leaving people behind and anticipates how life will be without them. The track opens with a lilting riff that, with just one beat of a snare, quickly develops into a full-throttle anthem.

The first verse utilizes the same lilting guitar riff to lift the melancholy lyrics, which address the anxieties surrounding moving on in life. The subdued verse then transforms into an energetic, sing-a-long worthy chorus, which is met with an equally energetic drum-led melody. Lyrically, the chorus accepts these life changes in its stride and dispels the anxiety that the verses hold.

Times change I’m leaving the city
I’m wondering if you’ll miss me
I’ll lose when I’m holding on to you
Times change I’m leaving the city
I’m wondering if you’ll miss me
Fall through when I’m holding on to you

The second verse unravels in much the same way as the first, before the chorus extinguishes its subtle apprehension with another electric rendition of the catchy hook. The video for “Times Change” brings an identical level of fervour to the track and depicts the band performing in what appears to be a family home.

I’ll bide my time for you
Everything’s not as it seems
Every time that I try to refuse
And now i see you in my dreams

The bridge maintains the lively pace of the chorus and brings each emotion in the track to a head. A slow chorus contains the energy for a brief moment until the music video perfectly foreshadows the upcoming change of pace. The lights change to vibrant red, and an impressive drum fill ensues, allowing the song to reach its crescendo; this is a moment sure to be a hit during live performances.

Times change I’m leaving the city
I’m wondering if you’ll miss me
I’ll lose when I’m holding onto you

Brilliantly vibrant repetitions of the chorus play the song out and “Times Change” maintains its contagious energy until its very last moments.

This track is the sonic embodiment of how it feels to be a young adult experiencing big changes, but still full of energy, excitement and zest.
