Fiery folk singer-songwriter Brielle Brown’s stirring single “Blessing” is a bold battle cry for resilience and renewal.

Despite its title, the word “blessing” never appears in the lyrics. Instead, the song offers strength, solace, and encouragement during life’s hardest moments. Brown’s verses channel perseverance through adversity, singing,“When the story breaks, you don’t cry / When the hands shake, you don’t cry / When you fall from grace, you don’t cry.” Yet “Blessing” isn’t about staying in darkness – it’s a call to rise. The music turns toward light and healing, urging us to find peace in togetherness. Fueled by bluesy guitars and burning vocals, the song becomes a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of persistence.

Co-written with Brown’s husband, acclaimed producer Marc Swersky (Joe Cocker, Hilary Duff, Natalie Cole), “Blessing” appears on her new album, In Art & Soil the Same — a compelling reflection on the critical role art and music play in catalyzing personal and societal change (out later this year). At its core, the album is a love letter to hope, healing, and resilience. Brown believes that “art is a savior,” and far from being a luxury, music is essential to human life. “It’s something we cannot live without,” she shares. Her songs, including previous standouts “She’s Come to Sing” and “Concrete Stars,” celebrate memory, legacy, and the future we dare to imagine.

Throughout In Art & Soil the Same, and especially on “Blessing,” Brown weaves in the values of the Witness Institute – a project founded by Rabbi Dr. Ariel Burger and Elisha Wiesel, continuing the legacy of Elisha’s father, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel. The Institute explores the role of music and art as powerful tools for transformation. Brown’s music speaks to the necessity of both personal introspection and collective action, reminding us that even in the darkest of times, love and hope can light the way.

The album also hosts a lineup of exceptional collaborators. A special bonus track version of Don Henley’s timeless “The Heart of the Matter” is included, alongside “Get Back to the Garden,” which features The Carlile Family Band. Guest contributions from Michelle Moore and Anthony Almonte (of the E Street Band) add further depth with their stunning vocals and percussion. But In Art & Soil the Same is more than the sum of its parts—it’s a soul-stirring statement of purpose.

Brown reflects, “It’s about us and the stories we tell and retell over time that shape our existence. It’s the delicate closeness of grief and suffering, the memories stored and storied in our bodies, and the essence of quiet power. I wrote it with a deep yearning to return to an embodied self in such a disembodied world. The songs are my offering, a container, and hopefully, a bridge to tell your story.”
