The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and new grass is peeking through the cracks in the pavement.

Spring has finally sprung in New York, and with it comes a pull we can’t ignore: A longing for connection, closeness, and possibility. Brooklyn-based artist country girl leans into that longing with “ring my bell,” a sweet and shimmering collaboration with Melody English that celebrates desire, vulnerability, and the gentle thrill of giving in.

Run and hurry up your stairs
Leave me hangin in the night
Night night night
Night night night
With a pencil in your hair
Always runnin out of time
Time time time
Time time time

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “ring my bell,” country girl’s first single of the year following the release of his debut EP meet me at the fountain – a record built on sweaty, salty golden-hour euphoria – this past January. Light and lush, tender and radiant, “ring my bell” is a dreamy ode to companionship and crushes, capturing the headrush of reunion and rekindled romance and the raw vulnerability of opening yourself up to something exciting and new.

Musically, “ring my bell” glows with the soft shimmer of ‘90s pop – a pastel-hued blend of rosy melodies, pillowy synths, and glistening production that feels at once nostalgic and refreshingly intimate. There’s an undeniable sweetness to how country girl and Melody English’s vocals entwine: Their harmonies float like sunlight through a bedroom window, delicate yet pulsing with quiet urgency. The track’s understated groove and hypnotic refrains wrap the listener in a warm, effervescent embrace, mirroring the emotional core of the song – an earnest invitation to close the distance, to let someone know they’re on your mind, to take the small but meaningful risk of connection.

Where meet me at the fountain channeled summer’s heat and hedonism, “ring my bell” leans into spring’s renewal.

It’s about beginnings, about letting yourself be pulled toward light, warmth, and wonder. The result is a song that feels both featherlight and deeply felt: A musical love note, waiting to be answered.

Both artists hit their high in the song’s chorus, their soft, dreamy voices intertwining as they climax together, basking in that intoxicating springtime fever:

But I heard the little catch in your breath
When you left me at your front door
I know your room is feelin’ quiet and empty
When you call me in the dark
So if I catch you in the back of my eye
While you’re lookin’ through my window
If you’re thinkin’ ‘bout comin’ over
Just ring my bell

It’s a push and pull between hesitation and surrender, brimming with delicate, dynamic, and delicious tension. It’s the electric charge of knowing you’re on someone’s mind and feeling the possibility crackle between you. There’s a seductive intimacy here, but also a sense of fantasy coming to life: The small gestures, the subtle cues, the magnetic pull that draws two people closer. country girl and Melody English effortlessly capture feelings of deep desire on the verge of being fulfilled, translating those private moments into a shared daydream, where every glance and breath becomes a promise waiting to be answered.

“‘ring my bell,’ a collaboration between country girl and Melody English, was recorded between our neighboring music studios in Brooklyn Navy Yard,” Goldberg tells Atwood Magazine. “The track was then bounced to reel-to-reel tape at a studio in Milan. As English’s rosy vocal refrain blossoms and weaves between country girl’s gentle whispers, the listener is delivered a simple message: Spring is here, everything’s alive again, and that person you’re thinking about… maybe give them a ring…

You haunt me in my dreams
And when the morning comes you’re gone
Gone gone gone…
Girl you never say what you mean
But your eyes tell me what you want
Want want want…
‘Cause I saw the little pause in your step
When you shimmied out the back door
I know your room is feelin’ quiet and empty
When you call me in the dark
So if I catch you in the back of my eye
While you’re lookin through my window
If you’re thinkin’ ’bout comin’ over
Just ring my bell

With its shimmering soundscape and sun-dappled melodies, “ring my bell” arrives as both a soundtrack and an invitation.

It’s a call, intimate and uninhibited, to lean into the season’s warmth, to embrace desire, and to follow where the heart dares to wander. It’s a lush, intoxicating reminder that connection is never far away – sometimes, it’s as simple as picking up the phone.

Let country girl and Melody English’s sweet, dreamy collaboration be the anthem that pulls you into spring’s embrace, one whispered refrain at a time. Stream “ring my bell” exclusively on Atwood Magazine!
