It’s about stripping away the layers of superficiality that so often consume us.

Our society is fueled by consumption; all too often we get lost in the supply and demand of life – the whats and the hows – and we lose sight of the bigger picture whys that drive us forward in the first place. For those moments when we forget what we’re doing it for, music will always be there, ready to tug our heads and hearts back home – and Dance Lessons’ first song of the year is the perfect soundtrack for that guided self-reflection. A soul-stirring reverie, “Good Enough” is a rich and impassioned indie pop celebration of simplicity ready to recenter us through sleek sonics and a sweetly seductive vocal performance.

Good Enough - Dance Lessons
Good Enough – Dance Lessons
I’ve been high on bad decisions, said I need
Intermission to content myself with
Is it deep where you are my engineered heart?
I reach for the day that
I like the fact you can rely on me
My overtime is busting up my memory
Where the horror’s washed away
And we get deep under our nails
Why we are relieved, I don’t know
Why we are relieved, I don’t know
Maybe this is killing us
Maybe this is modern love
Good enough
When you give me love, give me love

Independently released March 16, “Good Enough” is an utterly intoxicating and immersive enchantment. The sixth song of Dance Lessons’ career (and their first of the year) sees the London-based trio soaring to new heights as they dwell in a space of introspection and inner reckoning.

I’ve been high on bad decisions, said I need… intermission to content myself with – is it deep where you are, my engineered heart?” Dance Lessons’ vocalist, saxophonist, and drummer Ann sings at the song’s start. Over an ever-expanding soundscape of drums, keys, strings, and more, she undergoes an intense meditation on where she is and what she wants in life. “I reach for the day that I like the fact you can rely on me… My overtime is busting up my memory…

Eventually the song opens up with a radiant array of vocal harmonies that fill the air with lush sound. There’s a sense of possibility; of wonder and excitement as Dance Lessons hit the chorus:

Good enough
When you give me love, give me love
Good enough
When you give me love, give me love

“‘Good Enough’ is a celebration of simplicity,” the trio tell Atwood Magazine. “It’s about stripping away the layers of superficiality that so often consume us. The world throws a million things at us every second of every day. We wanted to acknowledge that sometimes all we need is right in front of us. Whether that’s a lover, a friend or a perfect stranger – it’s often the smallest moments, these times of being loved or feeling a true connection, that keep us going.”

We’re so out of touch
But open to more of that
Wild favour leaves me with a week of rain
I don’t complain no
These heat waves are worth it
Lift us off if even they may burn us
Never thought it was all or nothing
Lips like cushions talk of midnight crushing
Where the horror’s washed away
And we get deep under our nails
Why we are relieved, I don’t know
Why we are relieved, I don’t know
Maybe this is ending us
Maybe yes this is modern love
Good enough
When you give me love, give me love
You give me love

Impassioned, spirited, and effervescent, “Good Enough” is an anthem and an anchor.

Dance Lessons hold nothing back in delivering the most euphoric song of their career, creating a dreamy, intimate space in which we can dance and sway while reassessing our needs on a deeper human level. Best of all, this is just the start to the group’s year: Early May saw the release of “Eat Your Loyalty,” another irresistible seduction whose deep grooves, smoldering saxophone solos, glistening piano riffs, and mesmerizing vocal performances all but ensure we continue to pay them extra special attention in the months to come.

A diamond in the rough, Dance Lessons are singular in sound, promising to push our minds, our bodies, and our souls forward through their one-of-a-kind music.
