Achingly honest and heartwarmingly vulnerable, Jake Isaac’s new single “Eyes for You” is a powerfully raw, confessional love song. An intimate outpouring of longing, hope, and reflection, the pained captures the kind of love you never see coming: The one that hits you in the gut and takes your breath away, stuns you into silence and makes you rethink your entire worldview. It’s the kind of love you would do anything to keep, because you know that person is the best thing to ever happen to you – and if could help it, you would never want to leave their side.

I’m in love with a queen
And I hope that she don’t see that I’m
No where near the man
that she deserves by her side
I saw her in a dream
Before I even knew that I’d
One day get to know her name
And I know, I know, I know, I know
These days are young, and we’ve just begun
I know, I know, I know, I know
I shouldn’t say, but here it comes

Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering the Manny Adeyemi-directed music video for “Eyes for You,” the second single off Jake Isaac’s forthcoming sophomore album Honesty (out 2021). The South London singer/songwriter with a voice of silken gold, Jake Isaac wears his heart on his sleeve and in his music. Since 2012’s debut EP Hearts & Parables, the artist has approached his work with uncompromising honesty and unapologetic truth – a quality that shined bright on 2017’s debut album Our Lives, and one that continues to ring true in Isaac’s latest material.

After releasing a seemingly unrelenting slew of singles in recent years through various labels, Isaac inked a deal with Tom Sarig’s AntiFragile Music for his forthcoming sophomore record, the aptly-titled Honesty. October’s lead single “Good” set the stage for a record defined by soulful vocals and equally finessed, utterly moving instrumental work. “I’m no good with no one else; I’m only good when I’m with you,” Isaac sings in that song – a duet with fellow UK singer/songwriter Tertia May.

“Eyes for You” continues its predecessor’s themes of sincerity and sharing one’s truths with the person who matters, this time expressing connection and yearning through fragile eyes. Isaac expresses a bit of trepidation as he comes to realize the extent of his love; meanwhile, he also shares the fear that someone else may come in the picture and whisk his love away, leaving him heartbroken and lonely. His chorus is a catchy fully realized confession of his love:

I’ve only got eyes for you
I’m hoping that you see me too
I know I’ve fallen in too deep
But your love’s the love I need
Your love’s the love I need

“This one is literally about what it says on the tin,” Isaac tells Atwood Magazine. “Being honest with myself. I was always the one to fall first, [and] this song’s about that.”

Starring Zara Hunter and Miles Badau, Manny Adeyemi’s music video explores themes of togetherness and connection, love and trust. With an ending viewers might not expect, the accompaniment to Isaac’s music adds fresh depth and a new perspective to a song that already has so much to give.

I worry about you
Every time we say goodbye
Hoping that no other love will catch your eye
And I wear my truth
How I feel I couldn’t hide
Even if wanted to

2021 is right around the corner, and it promises to be a big year for Jake Isaac. A talented lyricist whose ear for melody is only unmatched by his sheer vocal prowess, Isaac is easily an artist to watch heading into the new year. Stay tuned for more soulful upheavals as he teases his sophomore album Honesty, and for now watch his “Eyes for You” music video exclusively on Atwood Magazine!

And I know, I know, I know, I know

I know, I know, I know, I know

I’ve only got eyes for you
I’m hoping that you see me too
I know I’ve fallen in too deep
But your love’s the love I need
Your love’s the love I need
