Mexico and the United States may be two of the world’s largest countries, but Jessica Audiffred is doing everything in her power to see bass music broadly embraced across both of them.

Having largely divided her life and career between the United States and Mexico, Jessica Audiffred has managed to absorb the musical traditions in both countries to the fullest.

Growing up in CDMX gave her plenty of contact with electronica, which is massively popular over there. Her time north of the border later in life has allowed her to share her homegrown passion with fans across the U.S., where Audiffred has been able to launch her own label, A-Records, and perform extensively at many American festivals. She also checks back into the homeland regularly to host Mad House, which she founded and promotes as Mexico’s first prominent bass music festival.

So far in 2025, Jessica Audiffred has been busy carrying out her latest U.S. tour, and also has teamed up with dubstep producer Samplifire for a reimagined old hit: “Around the World (La La La)” by ATC, which has been given a thumping EDM makeover here. No doubt, as winter wraps up and the warmer, more outdoor-concert-friendly seasons show up, we’ll be able to catch her live act in multiple locations. Plus, her debut album is also slated for release some time before our calendars will get replaced.

Before that craziness kicks in, though, let’s hear a bit from Audiffred about her projects and ambitions within this wild world of electronica.

A CONVERSATION WITH JESSICA AUDIFFRED

Jessica Audiffred © 2025

Atwood Magazine: What was it like growing up in Mexico City? What sort of music and pop culture were you exposed to when you were young – including the genre you wound up pursuing the most later on, electronica?

Jessica Audiffred: It was amazing. I’m grateful for my upbringing because I feel like growing up in Latin America gives you a sense of power in a way [and] makes your stronger. As far as music, I was highly influenced by MTV , music videos and pop/nu-metal. I immersed myself into the early electronic acts from the 2000s as a kid and I fell in love with music created in computers. Later in life, I would find my true love in dubstep as I felt like this combined both electronic and nu metal elements.

You've now spent a good amount of time in both Mexico and the United States. How do you show your devotion to and connect with fans in both countries?

Jessica Audiffred: I do spend 50% (maybe more) of my time in the USA and it has been such an amazing experience to express myself in a different culture. Mexico is such a loyal country and they’ve seen me grow. I love performing there but the USA gives me the opportunity to experience new sounds. They have such an open mind to every sound; it’s insane. I have the most fun playing new bangers and putting my own style out there.

Jessica Audiffred: Samplifire is such an amazing artist and person; [it’s] so easy to work with him. I had this idea of remaking “La La La” ’cause I’m in love with 2000s and 90s music, and I thought it needed a dubstep flip. [What] better artist to do this with than Samplifire?

What was it like producing your first album? What do you hope audiences will get out of it once it finally comes out?

Jessica Audiffred: This is Jessica Audiffred, all. Over the genres / music eras / styles… it screams my love for raves since I was a little kid, up to my love for the new sounds in bass right now. [It] is a musical and personal journey.

What gave you the inspiration for your Mad House event? What are your hopes for the next time you host this event?

Jessica Audiffred: We needed a big outlet for bass music in Mexico. Up until now, we are the only bass festival in Mexico City, but it started as an underground party in a 200-person cap venue. There were so many people in there that in one point I thought we were going to die. [laughs] But that’s when I realized we could do this on a larger scale. From a Mexican to a Mexican crowd, we have this enormous responsibility to represent bass music in Mexico City.

What has founding/leading A-Records meant to you? What are your thoughts on the label now that it is approaching its 10th year of existence?

Jessica Audiffred: I can’t believe it’s been 10 years! So many artists and music! At the beginning, I was trying to provide an outlet to all of my fellow producers who didn’t have a label to release their songs. I thought there were sooo many incredibly talented producers in here that needed a voice, and I thought I could create this for them.

It’s such a special feeling for me to be able to help talented producers around the world. It started with only Mexican artists and now we release from people all over the world. We have our own festival, and last year we were the only Mexican label takeover at [the Lost Lands Festival in Ohio]. I’m so proud of everything we’ve accomplished so far.

How would you summarize your recent tour?

Jessica Audiffred: The tour is over now but every single city is so special to me. I love meeting everyone.

Anything you'd like to add about your current/upcoming projects?

Jessica Audiffred: Keep an eye open for the album release and all the spring and summer shows I’m about to announce!
