While a countless number of America’s football fans were relishing the beloved Super Bowl, music enthusiasts flocked to Lunar Vacation’s Michigan tour date.
The band’s February 9th show was filled with passionate fans excited for the night to unfold.
Chicago-born musician Tasha set the stage for Lunar Vacation’s Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire Tour. With lush undertones and an introspective voice, the up-and-coming musician quickly captivated her audience. This fascination was mutual, as the artist bonded with the crowd over Super Bowl Sunday. Tasha made an immediate first impression by bringing out a football-themed balloon assortment to accompany her. At her suggestion, spectators began to yell “football!” after each song she performed.
“This has been my best Super Bowl,” the artist said in an amused tone that carried through the night. Later in the set, she expanded on the sentiment, stating, “No show is gonna be as good as this, I’m not just saying that.”

Gathering on a night typically reserved for sports worship made the concert memorable for everyone involved. The occasion was humorous, allowing for genuine laughter between the crowd and musician. Sports may be a form of enjoyment that is highly praised nationwide, but music is not only entertainment — it’s a language that resonates on a deeper level. The attendance at this event proved that music speaks to people, and that no matter the day or time, people will always advocate for it. On a night when most were glued to their television screens, this room of individuals showed up to support Lunar Vacation and Tasha. The energy in the room was unmatched – lively and electric, a communal space for everyone involved.
Eager to debut their second album to listeners worldwide, the five-piece from Georgia performed a variety of songs from their discography, with a focus on recent tracks. Their latest album, Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire, showcases raw, authentic emotion. With a desire to highlight human imperfection, the band bridges music and life experience in deeply personal ways. Performing this album live served as a way to channel these ideas, connecting with fans through vulnerability and shared understanding.
First impressions are key, which is why “You Shouldn’t Be” was the perfect song for the band to lead with. This opening track introduced listeners to the night, the album, and the band’s evolution. The song ends by repeating the title of the recent LP:
Everything matters
Everything’s fire
To me
Everything matters
Everything’s fire
To me
From there, they alternated between nostalgic hits from their discography, and shiny new tracks that have yet to be heard live. When performing “Tom” off the new album, fans continued to ask “Who’s Tom?” What began as a lighthearted joke, sparked the curiosity of fans. They desired to know the inspiration behind the song, specifically who it was written after. Lead vocalist, Gep Repasky responded eerily, informing fans she can’t unveil the identity of the infamous “Tom.”
Tom you look at me again
And it’s clear you don’t wanna be friends
What’s it takes to be a man?
(What’s it take? What’s it take? What’s it take?)
Tom, I know it’s much too soon
And I don’t even know you
But I’ve seen you on a frame
(In the dark, in the night)
Following the mysterious track that is “Tom,” the group performed their Valentine’s Day single “Only You.” The track was released on February 14th of 2023, and continues to be appreciated by fans everywhere.
As the concert came to a close, Lunar Vacation provided their audience a sense of closure with “Fantasy.” The song explores holding onto the fantasies of your imagination. Fans felt themselves holding onto the band, never wanting the night to end. This track speaks to that feeling of wanting to stay in a moment forever. If anything, the lyrics normalize this longing, ending with a sweet reminder that everything must end at some point.
Even though the night had concluded, the memories and laughs in that room will forever be remembered.
February 9th was an unforgettable night not only for sports fans, but also for Michigan’s Lunar Vacation enthusiasts.
