Promoting their triumphant third album ‘Like a Damn Dog,’ Sarah and The Sundays’ live show is the energetic, fun, and musically dazzling tour that’s a must-catch this spring!
“Policy” (live) – Sarah and the Sundays

If you’re planning to see Sarah and the Sundays on their North American tour sometime this spring, then you’re in luck – because their NYC show at Irving Plaza was something to write home about.

Their performance was full of intensity, energy, and playfulness, making it a perfect pairing with the beautiful spring weather that’s just starting to bloom in Manhattan.

The band’s set list featured songs from their newest album, Like a Damn Dog, as well as some well-loved hits from prior releases like “Moving On,” “Ruby Fields,” and “Vices.” Their sound was consistently bright, full, and cheerful, and their performance paired with it perfectly. I think their choice to tour on the cusp of spring and summer was truly a genius move, because their sound toes the line of salty-sweet and infectiously fresh. Everything about the show felt like a good mood – the band exuded joy and the performance felt familiar, nostalgic, and exciting at the same time.

One especially notable detail that I loved was their cover of MGMT’s “Kids.” The indie band cover of another iconic indie band’s song has essentially become a staple of live shows, and while most aren’t standouts by any means, Sarah and the Sundays’ rendition of “Kids” was so fitting for their set, and so gorgeously executed that I’m patiently waiting for them to release a studio version for the masses. The guitar riff was glittery and clear, and the melodic punch scratched an itch I didn’t even know needed scratching. I appreciate a cover done right, and that was it if I’ve ever heard one.

The energy and the sound of the show were fantastic, from their new material to their old favorites. I’m glad this was a part of how I’m kicking off the springtime, and I’d highly recommend catching their show – especially if you want to hear that MGMT homage for yourself.
