At just 20 years old, Stevie Matthew is an accomplished artist – from producer to musician to singer. With years of experience under his belt, he’s prepared to make his debut into the industry, with his first full-length album following the recent release of his new single, “All the Time in the World.”

Born and raised in Los Angeles, music always felt synonymous with the city for Stevie Matthew.

Although he’s making his solo debut later this year, Matthew has already worked with artists like Olivia Holt, Robin Thicke, and Eric Bellinger. Collaboration has always been central to his work – whether it’s for his own music or someone else’s.

“Every artist brings their thing. It’s really a fun thing to be with a different artist every day,” Matthew says. Collaborations in the music industry are powerful and essential tools that benefit both musicians and executives. Labels can use features to elevate emerging artists, while musicians can tap into new sources of creativity.

For Matthew, collaborating comes naturally – he started out as a producer. He began learning instruments at age three, from guitar to drums to piano.

“I’ve been playing instruments since I was really young,” he says. “And I grew up in LA, so it happened naturally. I was playing live with a bunch of artists and playing in sessions.”

Matthew’s passion for music is obvious not only in his work but in the way he speaks. When discussing the details of a song – from a guitar chord to writing the chorus – his eyes light up, eager to share more.

His debut as an artist emerged through a collaboration with Olivia Holt on “A Song to Make Out To.” Initially working behind the scenes on the track, Matthew eventually stepped in to record the male vocals.

“We had finished it before we decided who was going to put it out, and it just felt like it made more sense coming from both of us,” he says. The song functions more as a duet than a feature – an intimate conversation between two lovers. Holt and Matthew’s voices harmonize effortlessly, adding emotional depth that a solo version wouldn’t capture.

“Collaboration can be super magical with the right artist,” Matthew says. “When there is that instant chemistry in a room with the right person, the song tends to be bigger than either of us.”

Collaboration has also helped Matthew expand his artistry across sound, visuals, and overall presentation.

“I think the right people just started paying attention over a couple of years of doing that,” he says. “I was always in the studio. Once I had the right team as far as management and, you know, all those pieces around me, it really started to make sense.”

His new single, “All The Time in The World,” is a collaboration with R&B artist Eric Bellinger. The track showcases Matthew’s skill in blending genres and aligning with collaborators to create music that’s both sonically rich and lyrically resonant.

While collaborations have shaped much of his career so far, Matthew is excited to step out as a solo artist. “All The Time in The World” marks just the beginning.

“The goals are my goals. So for me that’s making the coolest music I can make, which is, you know, fun to be in the studio with my own sort of set of goals and being the one to make all the decisions.”

Social media has transformed creative industries like music, film, and publishing. In today’s landscape, follower counts often outweigh skill, with casting directors and agents signing influencers based on their reach rather than their craft.

Matthew, however, avoids the trap of constant self-promotion. Instead of endlessly scrolling, he channels his energy into the studio. Years of experience behind the scenes have helped him stay focused on the music itself, rather than the numbers.

“This project will really be my first time stepping out, which I’m excited about,” Matthew says of his debut record, due out later this year.

With his deep understanding of genre and production, the album promises a blend of styles, elevated by thoughtful lyrics and layered sound.

“I would say some records will make you dance, other records are on the sexy side, make you want to light candle,” he shares. “But I think for sure the collaborations are going to shock people.” His single with Eric Bellinger is just the start.

A self-proclaimed R&B musician, Matthew says his first album will reflect the soul and emotion that define the genre.

Vulnerability and honesty shape his lyrics, which are supported by orchestral arrangements.

Although R&B was his entry point into music production, he draws inspiration from across the spectrum. “I started playing R&B music, but I’m influenced by pop and dance music as an artist. The album kind of leans different ways, but the album kind of lives in those three worlds.”

This debut is a chance for Matthew to explore a new phase in his artistry, but he plans to carry forward key lessons from his years of collaboration.

Seeing other artists work at the top of their game has inspired him. “Certain people can write a hit every day and other people can sing their ass off or whatever it is,” he says. “Everybody competing at the highest level at whatever it is that they do really pushes me to be the best at what I do.”

Even though the album is a personal project, collaboration still plays a major role. “I rarely make music alone. I’m always with another producer, another writer, and if I am creating alone, I’ll usually still have my best friends in the room playing.”

Matthew adds, “Even when I’m alone, it’s still the energy in the room that is fueling what I’m making. And most of the records that I make do come from whatever we’re talking about that day or whatever is happening in the room.”

The album mainly lives in the R&B world – a reflection of the musical foundation he built as a child learning drums, guitar, and piano.

Personal and professional relationships have shaped the album’s diverse track list. The goal: to get listeners dancing, reflecting, or feeling confident depending on the song.

Visuals are also a big part of the project. “I think people are going to connect to them [the visuals] a lot, as far as the love aspect of the record,” he says.

The aesthetic of the album is described as “throwback and tropical” – a fitting vibe for summer.

So what’s next for Stevie Matthew? Bringing his debut album to life: finalizing production, shooting the cover and music videos, and adding all the finishing touches to what promises to be a monumental release.
