“See You Again (Volverte a Ver)” – Martí
Martí is a bilingual pop artist whose latest single “See You Again (Volverte a Ver)” sees the artist paying homage to his heritage whilst simultaneously jumping into modern pop and dance soundscapes to create something totally intoxicating.
Su amor me quema
no se me quita de encima
Su amor me quema
no se me quita de encima
Nada me alegra
No me puedo soportar
Ya me dejaron con la maraca
Y nada me arregla
(Te necesito pa distraerme)
Y obvio no es tu culpa
Pero es que me haces falta
(Te necesito pa distraerme)
Martí shares, “The music is inspired by my love for pop, indie pop, and Latin music that I have grown up around, as well as EDM I listened to growing up in Illinois, acts like Louis the Child, ODESZA, Lorde, Two Door Cinema Club and Daddy Yankee.”
Working alongside producer and engineer Michael Lipp on his latest music, the synth-heavy “See You Again (Volverte a Ver)” is a vibey tune where dancey electronic melodies spiral with pulsating beats to form a rhythmic vortex, delivering an almost robotic effect. The track speaks of a time when Martí passed the time with casual hookups as a way to distract himself from his relationship breakup.
Quiero volverte a ver
Volverte a ver
No se que es lo que siento
Quiero volverte a ver
Volverte a ver
No se que es lo que siento
Need to see you again
Let’s start as more than friends
I think your touch will fix what’s holding me captive
A dance with you is what’s left
Let’s build the bridge with our heads
Yeah it’s enough for just our lips to be touching
The songwriter shares, “We started “See You Again (Volverte a Ver)” a long time ago, I believe at the time I was still in a relationship and I thought of the chorus “Quiero Volverte a Ver” pretty randomly, I think I just liked how it sounded. So initially the song wasn’t about anyone or my own experience and it sat there for a while. We came back to it after me and this guy broke up and then that’s when the Verses came and I could really write from experience. I was pretty numb at the time and just romanticizing every hookup and date.”
“See You Again (Volverte a Ver)” marks the beginning of a significant chapter for Martí and we hope to hear a lot more from him this year, as he sets the bar extremely high.
Quiero volverte a ver
Volverte a ver
No se que es lo que siento
Quiero volverte a ver
Volverte a ver
No se que es lo que siento
