British singer/songwriter Aaron Taylor takes us track-by-track through the heart and soul of ‘Yours Always,’ his most intimate and emotionally raw project to date. Diving into love, loss, and the power of connection, he opens up about songwriting as a form of healing, putting the song before the sound, and what it means to truly be present for the people you love.

“Yours Always.” It’s a phrase filled with devotion, vulnerability, and quiet, aching sincerity.

It implies presence, constancy, and care; a promise made, even when permanence can’t be guaranteed. It’s love in its rawest, truest form. Aaron Taylor leans fully into that sentiment on his latest EP, delivering a body of work that feels incredibly unvarnished, authentic, and nakedly human. Across seven tracks, the British singer/songwriter reflects on love, loss, memory, and meaning, crafting intimate snapshots of connection and disconnection, vulnerability and grace.

These aren’t just songs – they’re moments, preserved in melody. Yours Always is Aaron Taylor’s most personal and reflective record to date: A tender, soul-stirring collection that invites us to slow down, lean in, and remember what – and who – really matters.

Yours Always – Aaron Taylor
I really miss you
And I hope that I see you soon
Wanna be near you
Like the summer breeze in June
They say the heart grows fonder
With every day that passes by
But my heart gets weaker
Each day you’re not by my side
– “Summer in June,” Aaron Taylor

Released May 23rd via Edenic Records, Yours Always finds Aaron Taylor stepping into new territory while staying true to his heart and soul. Written entirely on guitar – a shift from his usual keys-based approach – the EP trades polish for presence, placing emphasis on feeling, storytelling, and space. A subtle departure from his past neo-soul leanings, this seven-track set leans into indie and singer/songwriter textures without ever losing the warmth of his voice or the intimacy of his perspective. Each song feels lived-in and intentional – a musical letter penned with care, clarity, and deep emotional honesty.

Yours Always is a collection of songs that felt like letters to various people in my life, from various seasons of my life. I imagine them as letters the listener has discovered, perhaps by chance, but that they are welcome to read,” Taylor tells Atwood Magazine. “There was no particular vision, but there was definitely a desire to show growth as a writer. I think typically I’ve been heavily in the neo-soul world, and this breaks out of that slightly.”

He continues, “I’ve always wanted my music to feel like a hug at the end of a long day. Yours Always does this in ways I’ve done before but also puts the song first. It’s less about catchy grooves or particular vibes that would work well on a playlist, and more about the song. The idea that the song and the sentiment comes first. I think historically I sometimes was more interested in a perfect catchy four/eight bar loop, and now I’m capturing more of my mood in a moment and letting that be the thing.”

Whereas 2023’s HAVE A NICE DAY EP focused on enjoying life’s simple pleasures through lush, scaled production, bold melodies, and rich harmonies, Yours Always captures life’s little moments through a stripped-back, less-is-more sort of approach. The resulting music is no less powerful than that which came before.

Taylor affectionately calls Yours Always personal, reflective, and earnest. “There’s something about that phrase that strikes me,” he says of the title. “It’s an understated sign-off but contains a powerful sentiment. To belong to someone forever. We know it’s somewhat of an impossibility, but we use it anyway. But it’s also dedicated to the loved ones in my life and reflective of a desire to be their constant, despite change.”

In sound and sentiment alike, Yours Always is as emotionally exposed as it is musically restrained – a quiet, stirring testament to love, longing, and the ache of human connection. Highlights abound on the journey from the record’s endearing, smile-inducing opener “Across My Mind” to its calm and cathartic closer, “When I’m Finally Done.”

“Across My Mind” feels like the EP’s mission statement – a letter sung aloud, addressed to someone who may never hear it, yet meant with full sincerity. Its bright, acoustic arrangement is deceptively simple, allowing Taylor’s voice and words to take center stage. That intimacy sets the tone for the entire record, inviting us into a space of tenderness and vulnerability. “You just ran across my mind / So I thought I’d take the time / To see how you’re doing,” he sings gently, checking in with someone from a distance, unsure of their closeness but certain of his care. The warmth in his delivery softens the ache in the lyrics, making it feel less like a goodbye and more like a quiet attempt at reconnection – the kind that doesn’t demand a response, only hopes for one.

You just ran across my mind
So I thought I’d take the time
To see how you’re doing
And hear how your life’s been
And if you feel alright
Cause I feel the distance
That lies between us
But I want you to feel free to call me
When it gets tough
I just want you to be happy
I know sometimes life gets heavy
Just know you’re not alone
And you’re still important to me
I don’t want you to worry
So just give me. Call
– “Across My Mind,” Aaron Taylor

“Summer in June” captures that particular pain of missing someone just as the season begins to fade. Warm, wistful, and gently sun-soaked, the dreamy track feels like a memory being replayed in real time – a longing to stretch a fleeting moment just a little longer. “Much of it was freestyled both musically and lyrically,” Taylor recalls. “We wrote it at the tail end of the summer as if longing for it not to end.” That looseness gives the song its charm: A hazy blend of melancholy and hope, where absence becomes a form of affection.

The sting of absence rears its ugly head again in “Without Ya!” – a seductive song born from distance, longing, and love’s all-too-real withdrawal symptoms. “‘Without Ya’ is the result of a demo I began back in 2022,” Taylor tells Atwood Magazine. “It’s a song about wanting someone to remain in your life and how happy they make you, and I wanted to reflect this with the upbeat and positive sound of the music.” Light on its feet but heavy in sentiment, “Without Ya!” is a smoldering, soul-stirring confessional. By baring his own heavy heart, Taylor taps into something deeply universal – the way connection, when we find it, feels vital to survival.

I get withdrawals
All the symptoms
When we’re apart
I ‘spose I froze
When Cupid’s arrows
Found my heart
Don’t wanna live without ya
– “Without Ya!,” Aaron Taylor

As for his own personal favorite, Taylor doesn’t hesitate: “I’m biased, but ‘Nevermind’ is great,” he smiles. It’s a soft, emotional song about acceptance – about letting go of what’s already slipped away without bitterness or regret. “This was the last song to be written for the EP,” he shares. “Its composition came about quickly, and I wanted to write about being OK with a lost relationship in my life. Musically it ventures into singer/songwriter territories I haven’t yet showcased to my audience but am excited to share as it demonstrates my growth as a songwriter and vocalist.”

Never mind
I will find another love that’s mine
This won’t even matter
So it’s fine if you leave me behind
Never mind
Never mind
I won’t ask or beg you
Say goodbye if that’s what you need to
I’ll be fine if you leave me behind
Never mind
If you wanna stay
I won’t make you leave
If you won’t pray
I can’t make you believe
I can show you the way
But I can’t make you see
So never mind

One of the most quietly powerful moments on Yours Always comes in “Little Star,” a gentle, affirming track written as a reminder to someone struggling to see their own light. “You are a star / So don’t dim your light,” Taylor sings, his voice tender and steady. The song radiates care without condescension, offering reassurance in place of resolution. “Even the slightest light is greater than the darkest of nights,” he reflects – a lyric he names as one of his favorites on the record. Wrapped in lullaby softness, “Little Star” shines as a beacon of hope and unconditional love.

You are a star
So don’t dim your light
Just keep on shining
Keep on shining bright
You don’t have to shine brightest
‘Cause even the slightest of light
Is greater than the darkest of nights
I just wanna see you shining brightly
Like you did before
I just wanna see you rising higher
Further than beyond
– “Little Star,” Aaron Taylor

The EP closes on a note of calm catharsis with “When I’m Finally Done,” a heartfelt meditation on legacy, purpose, and presence. Taylor sings of reaching life’s end not with fear, but with a sense of warm reflection – hoping his time here mattered, hoping he stayed true, hoping he didn’t walk it alone. “I hope that I served a purpose,” he sings. “I hope that I’m still with you when I’m finally done.” It’s a graceful and grounding finish, tying a bow on the record’s emotional journey while reminding us what Yours Always has been about all along: Connection, in all its tender, complicated, and enduring forms.

When my time on earth is finally done
When there is no more race to run
I hope that my work is finished
I hope that my life’s been worth it
I hope that I served a purpose
When I’m finally done
When my time on earth is finally through
When there is no more left to do
I hope I can hold my head high
I hope that I lived my life right
I hope you’re still by my side
When I’m finally through

Yours Always stands as a testament to Aaron Taylor’s growth not just as a songwriter, but as a storyteller and a human being.

Stripped-back and soul-stirring, it’s a record that finds its strength in restraint – in quiet honesty, in melodic tenderness, in the space between what’s said and what’s left unsaid. From the warm ache of “Across My Mind” to the hopeful clarity of “When I’m Finally Done,” these songs offer small, intimate reflections on love, loss, and what it means to be present for the people who matter. Personal, reflective, and earnest, this EP doesn’t try to be anything more than exactly what it is – and in doing so, becomes something much more.

And though you’re oh so high
And oh so far
And way beyond reach
I look to you
You’re my North Star
Don’t forget who you are
Your light matters to me
– “Little Star,” Aaron Taylor

That simplicity is what gives Yours Always its resonance. These songs don’t shout – they speak gently, like a trusted friend or a note tucked inside a favorite book. “I hope it forces listeners to think about connection and their role in other people’s lives,” Taylor shares. “Make them reflect on the quality of their connections.” For him, writing this EP was a form of processing – a way to make peace, find clarity, and rediscover what’s important. “In creating Yours Always I feel like I’ve cathartically processed a few of my relationships and reminded myself what matters.”

And in listening, we’re invited to do the same. Yours Always is soft, but it leaves a mark. It’s the kind of record that slips into your life quietly, then lingers – not because it demands attention, but because it offers understanding. In a world that too often pulls us apart, Aaron Taylor gives us a reason to reach back out – to reconnect, to forgive, to be present. There’s beauty in that. There’s purpose in it, too.

Across My Mind

Across My Mind is a song about missing a friend and becoming aware of a newfound distance between us. It’s one of the rare occasions where I didn’t use someone else to play the guitar part like I usually do – there was a certain magic in my raw playing that matched the sentiment of the track.

Summer in June

Much of Summer in June was freestyled both musically and lyrically. My co-producer and I pressed record and jammed what eventually became the song’s chord progression with little communication. We wrote it at the tail end of the summer as if longing for it not to end.

Nevermind

This was the last song to be written for the EP. Its composition came about quickly and I wanted to write about being OK with a lost relationship in my life. Musically it ventures into singer-songwriter territories I haven’t yet showcased to my audience but am excited to share as it demonstrates my growth as a songwriter and vocalist.

More Often (Interlude)

This song can be about a romantic relationship but also reflects a father son relationship in that the lyrics are words I wish my sons never have to say. There’s almost a lullaby quality to the music and I’m particularly proud of its raw authenticity.

Without Ya!

Without Ya is the result of a demo I began back in 2022. It’s a song about wanting someone to remain in your life and how happy they make you and I wanted to reflect this with the upbeat and positive sound of the music.

Little Star

Little Star is a song about wanting to see those closest to me reach their full potential, and not allow the heaviness of the world to dim their light.

When I’m Finally Done

As I grow older, and since becoming a father, I’m often consumed by thoughts of futility and legacy and so I wrote a song about wanting what I do in life to matter overall. I come back to this song a lot.
