We’re breaking outta here tonight, in a rocket, in a rocket,” sings Lissie in a blaze of effervescent energy. There’s an undeniable charm about the American singer/songwriter as she sings with Irish band Beoga, wasting no time in inviting all who listen to join her and trailblaze our very own escape. A passionate eruption of folk pop warmth, “In a Rocket” finds Beoga and Lissie dazzling with a song about growth, escapism, indulgence, and embracing the moment.

In A Rocket with Lissie - Beoga
In a Rocket – Lissie x Beoga
Had enough of being underground
Time to get above take a look around
Spent too long in this lonely room
Kicked out the locks
Going to run with you
Sun’s waiting on the other side
We’re breaking outta here tonight
in a rocket, in a rocket

We’re going to set the world alight,
in a rocket, in a rocket

We’ll make it outta here alive,
in a rocket, in a rocket

Released April 9, “In a Rocket” is the perfect song of escape for these quarantined times where we are, for the first time in many of our lives, physically trapped and confined to our homes and/or neighborhoods. Listening as Lissie croons her sweet topline – written by James Bay, of all people! – is itself an adventure away from home and out of the norm. Her voice carries with it a distinct heat that meshes seamlessly with Beoga’s organic, acoustic folk instrumentation.

The third single off Beoga’s forthcoming mini-album Carousel, “In a Rocket” follows lead single “‘Matthew’s Daughter” (featuring Devin Dawson) and “Make a Mark” (featuring Ryan McMullan). A conscious blend of American and Irish contemporary folk, Beoga’s mini-album was engineered by Grammy-winning producer Jonny Coffer and features everything from lyrics written by Ed Sheeran about his wife Cherry (“Carousel”), to melodies constructed by James Bay (“In a Rocket”), and vocal performances from the likes of Foy Vance and Niall McCabe. In other words, this is one record release worth putting on the calendar.

“In a Rocket” is an exciting offering from Beoga’s upcoming mini-album – an inspiring, uplifting song whose feel-good spirit is as infectious as its chorus.

Fiddles swing and drums pound as Lissie lets loose, her powerful voice commanding the room and demanding our attention:

Lost sight of what’s wrong and right
Got caught up among the weeds and vines
Tripped up when I was running blind
So we’re headed to the moon first light
We’ll make it outta here tonight, in a rocket in a rocket
We’re going to set the world alight, in a rocket in a rocket
We can leave this town behind, shooting stars and satellites
We’ll make it outta here alive,
In a rocket, in a rocket
In a rocket, in a rocket

“‘In a Rocket’ is a song about growing, escapism and losing yourself,” Beoga tell Atwood Magazine. “Getting away from it all in your own metaphorical rocket, whatever that may be. It feels more and more apt given the current global situation… When we heard the original idea written by James Bay, we fell in love with it. We had been fans of both James and Lissie, so collaborating with them on this song was something that 3 or 4 years ago, we’d never have thought was possible. Lissie’s mid-western vocal along with Jonny Coffer’s production really helped pull the vibe of this song together.”

Lissie adds, “It’s such an honor to lend my voice to this uplifting song by Beoga! I feel like the words and meaning couldn’t be more perfect for these strange and uncertain times we are living in. Also, to have the release coincide with the first hopeful signs of Springtime feels appropriate. There is a lot of strength, resolve and optimism in this song!”

There is a lot of strength, resolve and optimism in this song!

We could not have said it better ourselves:

“In a Rocket” is the dynamic result of some strange bedfellows, and all parties involved bring their unique strengths to the song to make it a special injection of hope and limitless possibility.

If you can’t literally walk outside or be with who you want to be right now, go on an adventure with Beoga and Lissie’s “In a Rocket.”
