MARINA rediscovers the alchemy that first made listeners become fans in ‘Princess of Power’ – sparkling pop hooks, arch lyricism, and a beating heart behind the glitter. Her sixth studio album feels like a return, not to the past, but to a version of herself that always existed, waiting to be reclaimed. Across thirteen tracks, MARINA charts a vibrant journey of rebirth, heartbreak, self-invention, and emotional daring, each song bursting with character and intention.
Stream: ‘Princess of Power’ – MARINA
There’s a moment on Princess of Power, the sixth studio album by internationally acclaimed artist MARINA, where everything clicks into place.
The title track opens like an anthem from another galaxy, soft and ethereal before blasting into a euphoric electro-pop chorus. “Welcome to my world,” she sings, “Princess of Power!”
And just like that, you’re strapped in for the ride, a dazzling, high-voltage journey through heartbreak, healing, and the radical reclamation of self. It’s both fantasy and autobiography, MARINA has launched her own label, Queenie Records, stepped into full creative control, and delivered what may be her most complete artistic vision yet. And what a vision it is.

I livеd the sweet and I lived the sour
Been living lifе locked up in a tower
But now I’m blooming like a flower
Welcome to my world, princess of power
Stuck in a loveless generation
Ready to go through a transformation
I’m gonna glow like a meteor shower
Welcome to my world, princess of power
Big love, big aura
Big heart, big adorer
– “PRINCESS OF POWER,” MARINA
If 2021’s Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land was a mirror held up to society, PRINCESS OF POWER is a mirror turned inward, a radiant reflection of growth, sensuality, and the wild freedom of reclaiming your narrative. Written during a period of deep personal introspection, MARINA emerges here not just as a survivor but as a full-blown heroine, unshackled from expectations and thriving on her own terms. This record is more than a return; it’s a rebirth.
“BUTTERFLY” flutters between vulnerability and triumph. Anchored by a lightly psychedelic alt-pop beat, the song explores personal transformation with poetic grace. The album pulses with disco-lit euphoria and razor-sharp pop hooks, every track a testament to her evolution. Her voice, soft yet strong, dances above the beat like light refracted through a prism. It’s wistful, yet empowered, the sound of someone finally stepping into their skin. The image of emerging from a cocoon feels deeply MARINA: Feminine, mystical, and filled with hard-won freedom. There’s a serenity here that suggests not only change, but acceptance.
“CUNTISSIMO” is all swagger and stardust, a glam-pop banger where she reclaims confidence as couture. It’s brash, glittering, and tongue-in-cheek in all the right ways. The song doesn’t ask for permission to take up space, it owns the room, fully aware of its impact. This is MARINA at her most confident.

A sonic joyride, “ROLLERCOASTER” captures the dizzying highs and stomach-dropping lows of escapism. The production mimics the experience itself, swooping synths, sudden lulls, and a rush of adrenaline in the chorus. It’s a soundtrack for emotional thrill-seekers, equal parts euphoria and chaos.
Already a standout single, “CUPID’S GIRL” pairs breathy vocals with pulsing synths in a way that feels both sensual and charged. It’s romantic, sure, but MARINA’s delivery brings in a sense of fantasy and detachment that makes it uniquely her own. As previously praised by Atwood Magazine, it’s “whimsical and seductive,” a glossy piece of electro-pop that simmers with tension. There’s a mischief in the way she sings, a flirtation not just with love, but with possibility.
I’m gonna fall in love tonight
I’ve got my bow and arrow
My heart-shaped eyes are burning bright
I’ve got you in my sight
You’re looking at my wings
and by the look in your eyes
You’ve got an appetite
My love is ready to take flight
Slow dance into the light
Shoot you down with an arrow
like doom-doom-doom
Make your heart beat faster
like boom-boom-boom
‘Cause you know you want me
and you cannot resist
Yeah, I’m looking for a lover
and you’re top of my list
– “CUPID’S GIRL,” MARINA
“METALLIC STALLION” delves into vulnerability wrapped in metaphor, while playing like a space-age fairytale. The track tells the story of a love stalled by fear of intimacy, with a mechanical undercurrent that mirrors the emotional coldness of the subject. MARINA’s voice is wistful and aching, riding above the dream-pop steely synths that never quite thaw, a perfect sonic depiction of distance and longing.
A flirty, Parisian waltz through obsession, “JE NE SAIS QUOI” is MARINA at her most theatrical. It’s cheeky, over-the-top, and totally irresistible. With accordion flourishes and melodramatic strings, it channels vintage pop glam with a modern twist. The adoration here is almost adolescent, but intentionally so, tapping into that giddy, all-consuming early crush energy.
Here, MARINA tackles the identity crisis of modern love. “DIGITAL FANTASY” wraps sharp social commentary in breezy, tropicalia-inspired production, offering the perfect backdrop for a breakup with a narcissist who prefers the online version of you. It’s lush but incisive, a sugar-coated takedown dressed in island synths.
Even the album’s quietest moments carry weight. “EVERYBODY KNOWS I’M SAD” is a stripped-back track exploring the fantasy and lays bare her pain. This track distills the album’s emotional core into its most direct form. Stripped back and stark, it’s a confessional moment that doesn’t beg for sympathy but demands to be witnessed. The honesty is bracing, but there’s comfort in it too, a reminder that sadness is something we all carry, sometimes loudly. Like much of the album, vulnerability here isn’t a weakness, it’s a weapon. The track fades into shimmering silence, a necessary exhale before the next act.
“HELLO KITTY” blends nostalgic synths with cheeky lyrics, leans into camp while teasing out deeper layers of infatuation. With kitschy references and candy-coated melodies, it almost feels like a love letter written in glitter pen, until you catch the loneliness under the lacquer. It’s clever, a little tragic, and completely MARINA.
And then comes “I <3 YOU,” a late-album anthem that radiates with the wisdom of someone who’s seen the storm and chosen love anyway.
The disco daydream with sharp edges interpolates “I Will Survive” into a shimmering floor-filler about self-worth and resilience. There’s a playfulness in how she flips the original anthem into something new, reclaiming heartbreak with rhinestones and eyeliner. It’s joyous and made to be danced to.
They’re all going to Y2K,
we’re going to the ’70s
Silver stars upon my face,
leather boots upon my knees
Sorry, I’m a little late,
I’ve been spinning ’round and ’round
Welcome to the golden age,
everything is peachy now
Is it something you like? (Mhm)
La-la-la-la, you like? (Mhm)
Is it something you like? (Oh)
Is it something you like? (Uh-huh)
La-la-la-la, you like? (Uh-huh)
Gonna tell you tonight
‘Cause I love you,
and I know that you love me too
I want you, and I know that you want me too
I love you, I’ve been waiting to make you mine
I want to be holding you tonight
– “I <3 YOU,” MARINA
One of the most emotionally complex songs on the album, “ADULT GIRL,” is a ballad that dares to go deep. It confronts childhood trauma and the ache of growing up too fast, balancing fragility with poetic resolve. MARINA threads vulnerability into every note, her voice trembling over stark pianos and evocative lyrics. It’s haunting, and perhaps the heart of the album.
“FINAL BOSS” closes the album with wit, bite, and a fireworks sense of finale. It’s a kiss-off, a victory lap, and a reclamation all at once. With lyrics like “Are you in the mood to lose me again?,” MARINA aims at those who underestimated her. The beat is driving, the chorus is sharp, and the message is crystal clear: She’s not here to play, it’s her game now.

This record is a culmination, but also a beginning.
Released independently via Queenie Records in partnership with BMG, PRINCESS OF POWER marks MARINA’s most liberated creative chapter yet. There’s a confidence threaded throughout the album that’s unmistakable, the kind of clarity that only comes after you’ve burned down every false version of yourself and built anew from the ashes.
The most compelling praise comes not from the critics, but from MARINA herself: “It’s really a rebuilding-my-life-from-scratch type of album,” she says, “Which is probably why it has an exciting energy.” And exciting it is.
Princess of Power captures what made MARINA magnetic in her early years: Clever, vulnerable, and unapologetically feminine, while evolving that spirit for a new era. Each song pulses with intention as she sheds past identities, honors the scars of old wounds, and steps fully into her evolved self. It’s an album that invites listeners to do the same, to find the strength in their softness, the magic in their mess, and the power in their truth.
After more than a decade in the spotlight, MARINA sounds more herself than ever before – reflective, fierce, and gloriously unfiltered. She’s found a voice that isn’t shaped by expectation, but rooted in authenticity, and it’s nothing short of electrifying.
