Loving is hard. Hurting is harder. Human emotion is complex and malleable, and falling out of love happens more often than we would ever like to admit. Artists of every generation have expressed the highs and lows of loving — and un-loving — someone special. Valentine’s Day is a social construct crafted by greeting card companies, and yet it is continuously celebrated anyways. No matter what, though, there’s one thing we all know to be true: love hurts.
