Find A Love - FEEL
Find A Love – FEEL
Fill the boat with a lotta gold
“We’re alone and hopeless”, not yet
Jesus said that we gotta love
Well love, Oh yeah I said
Bleed me outta love, then we gotta move
Feed me out a service in your garden too, well
I can see that you’re love could let me loose, well
Find a love, find a love
Keep h
olding on it!
Keep holding on it!

No, it’s not 1973, and no, you’re not dreaming – although this music is a classic rock lover’s fever dream. Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “Find a Love,” FEEL’s first single of 2023 (independently out August 11, 2023). A rock n’ roll band inspired by British hard rock, ’70s Laurel Canyon, and the “experimental revolution of the 1960s,” FEEL debuted in 2021 and have, over the past two years, been slowly introducing themselves through songs full of radiance and vigor, raw energy and pure intensity.

Comprised of vocalist Garrett Barcus, guitarist Tyler Armstrong, bassist Rodger Lenhardt, and drummer T.J. Steinwart, the midwestern band have quickly sprung up and out of St. Louis, already making a name for themselves on the road opening for the likes of Cheap Trick, 38 Special, Rival Sons, and John Waite.

“Find a Love” is FEEL’s eighth overall song and their first standalone release, arriving just shy of a year after the band’s three-track “Shoal Creek/Poem 59” single – which captures both their hard rock and their lighter folk sides, and also includes the achingly beautiful two-minute acoustic guitar instrumental, “A Song for Sam.”

“Find a Love” leans heavily on the band’s blues rock inspirations, with hearty riffs seething, swirling, and stirring around lead singer Garrett Barcus’ electrifying vocal performance. Comparisons to ’70s classic rock legends like Robert Plant and Roger Daltrey are warranted: Barcus roars like a wildfire as he and the band bask in a space of reckoning and revelry:

City days has only come and eased the sun
that’s burnt out on my lake

Live inside, baby, no-oh-oh-oh-oh
You can live it by the railroads, yeah
I said
Bleed me outta love, then we gotta move
Feed please, outta service
On a plate of honest, let me fall and just
Bleed me like the others, oh well
Find a love, oh, find a love,
Keep holding on it

Woo, yes sir

“‘Find A Love’ is a track that explains all we’re about it one tune,” the band tells Atwood Magazine. “Up and down, darkness and light, power and grace. Our music is a celebration of life, and we feel this song expresses that. Today and yesterday’s generations have been looking for something authentic in the rock world for awhile, and “Find A Love” is opening the door for them to discover that in FEEL.

Our music is a celebration of life, and we feel this song expresses that.

Based on sound alone, FEEL’s music has the power to bridge generational and cultural divides. For as much as people have lamented rock n’ roll’s passing (a sentiment that seems to have started as far back as the 1980s), that joyous, gritty gusto is alive and well in bands like FEEL, an independent group of twenty-somethings following in the footsteps of titans.

And while we can’t help but think of bands like Led Zeppelin upon our first couple of listens, the more you dig into FEEL’s discography, the more they stand out as their own independent entity – so much more than a nostalgia-inducing rock band. Helmed by an acrobatic tenor with his own theatrical flare, FEEL are the next generation of rock n’ roll: A band with their pulse on the past and the future, all at the same time.

Let me stow in your garden, with God
Even God makes my mistakes
Even now, even now babe, yeah
Bleed me outta love, oh
Then we gotta move

Feed me, outta service on a plate of honest
Let us fall and I can
Be like the others baby, oh wait, oh well
Find a love, oh, find a love, oh
Find a love, yeah, find a love, oh
Find a love, oh, find a love,
Keep holding on it!
Find it, find it babe
