The view was gnarly at New York City’s Governors Ball when KATSEYE took the stage – in a good way!
Stream: “PINKY UP” – KATSEYE
Our pinkies are up and our new beats are gnarly.
Even if you don’t know what “eat zucchini” means, anyone can bop along to KATSEYE’s music, with the artists cementing their spot as one of the biggest groups making music right now.
The band is currently made up of Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung, with Manon Bannerman taking a step back earlier this year.
Anyone who’s seen the Netflix documentary knows they’re the best of the best – and anyone who’s gone down a YouTube rabbit hole knows they’ve all been performing for years before that.
That combination of talent and charisma is probably why KATSEYE feel so necessary in the music scene. They’ve got TikTok-able choreography, adorable outfits, distinct and instantly lovable personalities and an electric stage presence when they’re together.
They also just seem genuinely excited to be performing and connecting with fans.

And obviously there’s an overwhelming feeling that these girls are working really hard.
Every dance move has so much power behind it. Their faces are laser-focused, but everything still looks effortless and easy. (I’ve tried to learn the “Pinky Up” dance and I promise it’s not.)
“Thursday, I was losin’ interest
Friday, you were out there in the cold.
Weekend, you already missed it
I was movin’ on,
’cause you were movin’ too slow.”
– “Touch,” KATSEYE
Now, they’re performing at Coachella in California, sweeping the American Music Awards, and drawing in a huge crowd at Governors Ball.
Just like Chappell Roan in 2024 and, I’d assume, Slayyyter on Sunday, there was an overwhelming sense that everyone who was at the New York City music festival on Friday was there for KATSEYE.
The performers took the stage with their New York-themed outfits and visuals, starting strong with their latest single “Pinky Up.” They took a break to introduce themselves, each sharing how excited they were for their first time at the festival.
Lara mentioned this was technically her hometown show and shared her love for the Knicks, who had a game later that night.
“Let’s have a fun night,” she added. “And happy Pride!”
“Hey Gov Ball,” Yoonchae said. “Being right here, seeing all of you guys in person – I’m so happy. You guys are so beautiful.”
There were kids holding lightsticks, some with KATSEYE-branded t-shirts on. I spotted a “Hot Girls for KATSEYE” poster and another family posing in front of the lineup poster, beaming and pointing at KATSEYE’s name on the list.
In fact, I underestimated how many young fans the girl group had. This was a family affair for many attendees, some of whom had been camped out in front of the Gov Ball stage all afternoon.
Even Cardi B and her daughter Kulture were there cheering the girls on — a video of the “WAP” artist dancing along to “Gabriela” went viral shortly after the set.

An obvious highlight was “Gnarly.” Everyone, absolutely everyone, was screaming the lyrics.
Some people were dancing along with the girls, others were feverishly recording TikToks – it was just chaos in the best way. Beautiful chaos, you might say.
Now, the Ticketmaster virtual queue to get KATSEYE tickets for the 2026 Wildworld Tour… that was gnarly – in a bad way.
