Released June 1, 2023 via Atlantic Records, “Motion” may very well be the song of the summer and then some. Ty Dolla $ign’s first release of the year – and the first tease off a forthcoming summer EP – all but demands movement from its audience, coming to life with thick acid house beats and Ty’s own soulful, sultry vocals.
He brings the intensity and immediacy of the club home in a moment of ecstasy, repeating himself until his hypnotic words become a kinetic, cathartic mantra of pure, propulsive energy: “That’s when I get my motion, that’s when I get my motion, our bodies in the moment, that’s when I get my motion…“
“I had to give y’all something fun, something to dance to, something for the summertime!” Ty shared upon his song’s release. “I’m just getting started.”
Produced by Will Larsen and Stryv, “Motion” is an intoxicating experience from end to end. While the instruments set the track’s tone and create a strong foundation – radiating with their own gravitational pull – it’s Ty’s golden vocals, dripping with emotion, that make this song such a sweltering seduction. He holds nothing back as he pours hot passion into the mic, his voice aching with soul-stirring warmth and raw fervor as he celebrates the immersion, the escape, and the allure of the dance floor:
