For honour, for family, for harbour, for harmony…

Luca Fogale’s words resound like a prayer, a mantra, a reminder of what matters most.
Each exhale feels like a vow: A pledge to family, to love, to community, to the fragile but essential bonds that give our days meaning. It’s an acknowledgement of both our deepest needs and our highest hopes – the desire to belong, to protect, to be remembered not for achievement alone, but for devotion and care. In their repetition, Fogale’s words take on the weight of ritual, grounding both himself and his listeners in truths that feel eternal, transcending any single life or fleeting moment.
“For honour, for family, for harbour, for harmony.” This refrain is the heartbeat of Luca Fogale’s breathtakingly beautiful new single “For,” a spellbinding indie folk surrender that is as earnest as it is intimate – a song that aches with humanity while reaching for something greater than the self. Gentle, vulnerable, and deeply heartfelt, it captures the tension between striving and surrendering, between time’s inevitable passage and our yearning to preserve what we love.

Where, now
Does our story fade?
Held out into the grey
Roll time beyond the edge
Our hope for what’s unsaid
Atwood Magazine is proud to be premiering “For,” the breathtaking new single from Vancouver singer/songwriter Luca Fogale. Released August 29, 2025 via Nettwerk Music Group, “For” follows this year’s earlier singles “Begin,” “Ashes,” and “Lost Without You,” and offers another glimpse into Fogale’s forthcoming album (details still to come). The JUNO-nominated artist, celebrated for his warm, soul-stirring voice and unflinching vulnerability, continues to expand his palette with this song, which grows from soft acoustic beginnings into a lush, layered indie folk reverie of purpose and devotion.
“I wrote ‘For’ throughout the course of a few seasons of my life,” Fogale tells Atwood Magazine. “So while this is at once a song simply about trying to serve what is most important in this life, the narrator (a version of myself) is grappling with understanding the finiteness of time, while desperately wanting to preserve an imagined perfect future, compelled by all of the tenets in the refrain; those which he believes to be most valuable. ‘For honour. For family.’”
“This version of myself tries to be tireless, resolute, unbreakable, unknowing that he will fail, as he is only human. I recognize inside myself the desire to strive, to achieve, to provide, and in turn, I notice how hard I fall when I lose touch with humility and self-acceptance. The narrator is in a race against time and against vulnerability.”

That push and pull of mortality, humility, and hope is woven through every line of “For.”
Fogale’s soft and dreamy, aching and raw voice rests tenderly atop acoustic guitar in the song’s opening verse, setting the stage for a meditation on what we value, what we fight for, and what we ultimately must surrender to:
For honour
For family
For harbour
For harmony
For laughter
For levity
For purpose
For eternity
As the track unfolds, additional instrumentation blooms around him, mirroring his rising fervor. Subtle textures and swelling sonics build upon his confessions, creating a listening experience that feels utterly enrapturing. It’s a song that carries the listener from stillness into a quiet storm, brimming with devotion and fragility.
Move slow
Through shifting days
And hold close your love from fading
The earth calls our bodies back
So, hold on for all that lasts
For all that lasts
For honour, for family
For harbour, for harmony
For laughter, for levity
For purpose, for eternity
“If all is cherished, then no love is stolen,” he sings later, distilling the song’s heart into one of its most striking lines – a reminder that the love we hold and the moments we cherish are never truly lost.
So I’ll hold my head up
Let the hurt fall
Keep my footing
Where the darkness calls
Carry forward
Every moment
If all is cherished, then
No love is stolen
With ‘For,’ Luca Fogale offers a timeless reflection on life’s deepest questions: Who are we, what do we serve, and how do we want to be remembered?
It’s a vulnerable, poignant meditation that leaves space for both ache and hope, shadow and light.
Fogale’s forthcoming album may be on the horizon, but “For” already feels like a North Star – guiding us back to love, family, harmony, and all that truly lasts.

Who could I be
In this lifetime
If I hold true
With every step climbed?
Keep the promise
That my hope won’t die
That it’ll shine so bright
For honour
For family
For harbour
For harmony
