Tell me what I do wrong
Tell me what I do right
Tell me with a new song
Be brave…
Cold hearted with a pen
Warm hearted with a fan
Lotta them don’t understand
Where I’m coming from
Need a dollar or a yen
Shit is gonna hit the fan
Luck is written with an a
Where I’m coming from
But I ain’t got nothing to complain
I ain’t rich but I ain’t broke
I’d rather drink water than champagne
But if I could I would drink both

Released May 12, 2023 via Mellowsophy Music, “do_Fr3ak.wav” is the second “officially released” song to emerge from alternative hip-hop artist coslee and renowned music producer papatanice, two rising forces in Greece’s indie music scene. The pair first collaborated on last November’s standalone single “such a great day,” a relaxed bit of feel-good music channeling sun-kissed warmth into three uplifting minutes of alternative hip-hop bliss.

Their time working together on that song sparked an organic bond that has grown even stronger over the past six months, ultimately resulting in a YouTube music series, “What Tuesdays Sound Like” (which ran throughout December 2022 and January 2023), and yet another stunning track in “do_Fr3ak.wav” that highlights coslee and papatanice’s respective talents.

Let me show you a little trick
Teenage fella with a brick
Life is longer than we think
But I wouldn’t know
10 years later blink
Music has me on a string
First I thought it was a fling
But I couldn’t know
So now people ask me to choose
They say that I’m not who I used to be
But I say that all them confused

“‘do_Fr3ak.wav’ is more than just a catchy tune,” coslee tells Atwood Magazine. “It’s a call to be brave, embrace self-expression, and enjoy the ride. This intoxicating groove combines playful raps and mesmerizing instrumentation for a truly one-of-a-kind listening experience. Although words fail to capture the essence and drive of the song, one can simply imagine the musical offspring of Tom Misch, Mac Miller, and Jamiroquai, then let coslee and papatanice take you on an unforgettable journey.”

That call to be brave comes to life in a catchy chorus backed by an insatiable, deep groove:

Be brave
Tell me what I do wrong
Tell me what I do right
Tell me with a new song

As coslee explains, this song is a long time coming – and one that took him on an unexpected journey of his own, as the pair tapped a more “mainstream” sound than coslee is used to making. (For a good reference of coslee’s alternative hip-hop sound, check out his 2022 debut album What Feelings Sound Like – an entrancing, hypnotic listen in its own right!)

”Every time I release new music I discover something new about myself or the art I’m serving,” coslee says. “This song wasn’t written by me and Tom (papatanice), but rather THROUGH me and Tom. It was a super organic process that lasted maybe a couple of hours for the core idea to reveal itself. However, it sounded TOO commercial (as if that’s even a thing), and I was afraid people would judge the book by its cover.”

“Sometimes, WE are the biggest hindrance to art, not other people nor the music business. Eventually, I came to terms with the commercial nature of the song and accepted the fact that making art requires having zero control over the creative output. Whether it’s something that will change the world or something that sounds a LOT like something else. Undoubtedly, the biggest inspiration behind the music of this single are Anderson .Paak and Jungle, which both me and Tom hold very dear to our hearts.”

Ay yo I need to say something
You got me wrong
You got me right
You got me wrong
You got me right
